The song has 3 other versions included in the soundtrack of the album titled, "Raabta (Night in a Motel)", "Raabta (Siyaah Raatein)" and "Raabta (Kehte Hain Khuda Ne)" which features vocals by Aditi Singh Sharma, Hamsika Iyer and Shreya Ghoshal respectively, and also has another version titled, "Raabta Title Song" from the film Raabta which features vocals by Nikhita Gandhi, with additional vocals by Singh for all 4 versions.[4]
The first 4 versions of the song were released on 10 February 2012 along with other tracks in the album. The music video of the song was officially released on 9 March 2012, through the YouTube channel of T-Series. The version of the song used in this music video is the original version by Arijit Singh. However, the "Night in Motel" version, sung by Aditi Singh Sharma along with Singh, is used in the film.
The remix version of the song was released on 27 April 2017 alongside much fanfare with the new trend of remixing old songs taking over movies. The song has more than 35 million views on YouTube within a month's time. It was also praised for its beat and the video.
Bollywood Hungama's Joginder Tuteja praised all 4 versions of the song and commented: "Special mention for lyricist Bhattacharya who indeed ends up getting something new to cheer about and demonstrates once again that he has a good knack of playing around with words".[4]
This version of the song was used in the film from the 4 versions and was incorrectly credited to Hamsika Iyer instead of Sharma on the CD cover, though Iyer's vocals are used in the digital release of "Night in a Motel".[9] Compared to Singh's solo version, the production of "Night in Motel" is largely piano-based, with a notable viola section preceding Singh's verse.
The third version of the song titled "Raabta (Siyaah Raatein)" is sung by Hamsika Iyer. In comparison, by the composition of the song, to that of the version "Night in a Motel", an electric guitar is added to the tune and the drum beat is softened, apart from the use of piano. Additional English vocals were rendered by Joi, in the version of the song.
A remake of the song, also produced by Pritam, was used as the title track for the 2017 film Raabta. The song was sung by Nikhita Gandhi with Arijit Singh also returning. The music video stars Deepika Padukone in a cameo role alongside the film's stars Sushant Singh Rajput, Kriti Sanon and Jim Sarbh. The video is produced by T-Series.
Shirley Setia and Jubin Nautiyal sang the Mixtape version of the song "Tu Jo Mila Raabta", which is a medley of "Raabta" and "Tu Jo Mila" from Bajrangi Bhaijaan, which was also composed by Pritam, with lyrics by Kausar Munir .[11]
The music-composer Pritam performed the song live in IIFA Rocks 2013 along with Arijit Singh and Aditi Singh Sharma, which also celebrated 100 years of Indian cinema.[12] Singh performed the song on 30 December 2013, on the concert "Salaam Dubai" which was organised by Oberoi Middle East.[13] He also performed the song at a private concert for the Connoisseurs Club Dubai on 7 November 2014.[14] On 19 October 2014, singer Shreya Ghoshal performed the song at her concert which was held at Rajkot.
Aditi Singh Sharma also performed the love ballad, at the Atif Aslam concert which was presented by ARN Entertainment and R.V Steels and Power on 22 May 2014.[15] She even performed the song at "Tum Hi Ho" live concert at the San Jose State University Event Center on 9 August 2014.[16] Both Singh and Sharma performed their version of the song at Singh's London debut concert at the Indigo Arena on 29 August 2014.

Kehte hain khuda ne iss jahan mein sabhi ke liye
Kisi na kisi ko hai banaya har kisi ke liye
Tera milna hai uss rab ka ishaara maanu
Mujhko banaya tere jaise hi kisi ke liye
Kehte hain khuda ne iss jahan mein sabhi ke liye
Kisi na kisi ko hai banaya har kisi ke liye
Tera milna hai uss rab ka ishaara maanu
Mujhko banaya tere jaise hi kisi ke liye
Kuch toh hai tujhse raabta
Kuch toh hai tujhse raabta
Kaise hum jaane hume kya pata
Kuch toh hai tujhse raabta
Tu humsafar hai, phir kya fikar hai
Jeene ki wajah hi yahi marna issi ke liye
Kehte hain khuda ne iss jahan mein sabhi ke liye
Kisi na kisi ko hai banaya har kisi ke liye
Meharbaani jaate jaate mujh pe kar gaya
Guzarta sa lamha ek daaman bhar gaya
Tere nazara mila, roshan sitaara mila
Takdeer ki kashtiyon ko, kinara mila
Sadiyon se tarse hai jaisi zindagi ke liye
Teri sauhbat mein duaayein hain ussi ke liye
Tere milna hai uss rab ka ishaara
Maanu mujhko banaya tere hi jaise kisi ke liye
Kuch toh hai tujhse raabta
Kuch toh hai tujhse raabta
Kaise hum jaane hume kya pata
Kuch toh hai tujhse raabta
Tu humsafar hai, phir kya fikar hai
Jeene ki wajah hi yahi marna issi ke liye
Kehte hain khuda ne iss jahan mein sabhi ke liye
Kisi na kisi ko hai banaya har kisi ke liye
Oh WOW, this is beautiful! I tried to find a site that actually translated the lyrics rather than rely on Google, and reading the ones attached, I really can see why you see this a super Johnlocky song. Beautiful song, thank you so much for sharing it with us!
Jim Sarbh, who made a mark with his performance as Malik Kafur in the movie Padmaavat, has acted in many Bollywood movies before his iconic role in the period drama. Here are some of the best songs featuring Jim Sarbh that one should surely listen to again.
The movie Raabta released in 2017 and featured Kriti Sanon, Sushant Singh Rajput and Jim Sarbh in the lead roles. Set in two time zones, the movie saw Jim Sarbh and Kriti Sanon's characters as a couple in the previous era before they got separated because of Sushant's character. The movie gained many praises for its hip and peppy songs as well as the movie direction by Dinesh Vijan.
The song Cold/mess is sung in the melodious voice of Prateek Kuhad. The music video was produced by Jugaad Productions and featured Jim Sarbh and Zoya Hussain. Prateek Kuhad is an Indian independent singer who gained massive attention since he released his debut album In Tokens and Charms back in 2015.
The song Binte Dil was one of the highly hyped songs from the movie Padmaavat. The Shahid Kapoor, Deepika Padukone, Ranveer Singh, and Jim Sarbh starrer made a lot of news before its release in India. Many speculation were made regarding the plot of the movie. The chemistry between Malik Kafur and Khilji in the song is simply difficult to go unnoticed.
Sanju that released in 2018 and featured many hummable songs, with Main Badhiya Tu Bhi Badhiya being one of them. The song featured Ranbir Kapoor lip-syncing to the lyrics of a female singer. One can even see Jim Sarbh in the song sequence. Jim Sarbh played the role of Ranbir Kapoor's friend in the major part of the film.
The entire theme of the film was focused around unrequited love and the trials of it. And Lambiyaan Si Judaiyaan not only worked as a central point for it, but it also gave us an unmatchable chemistry between Sushant Singh Rajput and Kriti Sanon.
There are some party songs that play everywhere for an entire season, and then some more. Main Tera Boyfriend was literally the repetitive song in every party at the time, and we could see a sense of joy that it brought people. Also, Sushant Singh Rajput, Kriti Sanon, their costumes and moves were too cool for 2017.
There was something very wholesome about watching Sushant Singh Rajput and Kriti Sanon on-screen. And in many ways they did bring life to these songs. There was also one thing which almost everyone agreed on, that the actors shared incredible chemistry and did amazing work in the film. Even during promotions, audiences could see a lot of respect and a sense of friendship when these two were together.
It also reminds us of the actor, and things that he was good at. His dance skills, the ability to emote and the conviction with which he performed are some things that are going to stay with us.
As the song plays, Kriti breaks up with Sushant and returns his ring and choses Jim Sarbh over him. Sushant accepts her decision and does not even make an attempt to win her back. After listening to the song crooned by Arijit Singh and penned down by Amitabh Bhattacharya we are left wondering, what is that which brought differences between this much-in-love couple? Was it the doing of Jim Sarbh, who essays a negative role in the movie? Well, all will be revealed when the story unfolds in the theatres on June 9. But one thing is for sure that they will reunite as the flashes of their past keep haunting them after the painful separation.
Unlike the other songs of the movie which had Kriti and Sushant celebrating the feeling of love, this one is a slow but a soulful rendition. Also, as you listen to Arijit Singh, you will be reminded of his other songs which perfectly brings out the emotions of a heartbreak.
The trailer of Raabta took the audience by surprise as it travelled between the past and the present and this love story got twisted into a thriller. Directed by Dinesh Vijan, the film has a surprise element in Rajkummar Rao who plays a 324-year-old man in the film.
