afterthat i wanted to know which updates caused the issue as well. so i updated those items one category by one category. (such as framework patches at same time, and then SQL patches at same time ). interesting thing is: all items finally successfully updated. so::: I still can not help to find out which item is causing the stuck.

do not select all the patches at same time. patch them one by one if possible.

if there is lots of patches, please try to only update one category at same time.

patch small/light patches 1st, heavy patches move to later.

another thought:

if your server 2012 OS is running on a separate disk(NOT on the RAID), then try to remove the RAID data disks (ONLY if possible and your windows is NOT running on them) after patch updates you can insert them back.

I have tried downloading it directly but it still has to reach out to Microsoft update and I get the same failed message. I have also tried using DISM both to reach out to Windows update and to pull it off the Windows 10 install media I have and I still get the same error message no matter what. I have continued to research this issue but with no luck.

The system I am doing the install on is a new fresh install of Windows 10. I have installed this Sage software on a laptop that was purchased with Windows 10 already on it and the .NET framework installed just fine. Not sure what the difference would be with this install.

This did it. I had burned the iso to disc but using the DISM tool it could not pull the files needed from there. So I downloaded Virtual Clone Drive and mounted the iso. When I ran the DISM command I pointed it to the mounted virtual drive and I finally manged to install .NET Framework 3.5 and also the Sage 50 software. Thanks everyone for the help.

Why I install .net3.5 manual failed ? I download the .netframework 3.5 and copy to windows 8. I run the .net3.5 installation package. it also popup notice. But I want to install .net3.5 not require the network. any body gives some suggest?

I used it to re-install Bitmeter (from Codebox), which I find far superior to the more recent alternative programs available from the Microsoft Store. Thanks again for the clear instructions. I got Media Center to blue screen on me three times on the ATI driver module when switching from desktop back to full screen (it crashed once on T410 with Intel HD graphics also), or scrubbing, or close one dvrms and open another. There is no double click to full screen kind of annoying. Need to right click to get to menu like CC, Zoom is strange also.

Manual update of firmware doesn't work if you leave the .tdz file in user folder even if you have administrative right, copy them to \program files\update (also need fix permissions in help, support?)

A868 (Volar) USB is not certified, but AverTV 6.0.7 2007.09.13 (may need to install driver v1.3.0.79 2009.02.26 afterwards) works, Media Center is mostly ok, may have problem stopping recording and switch channel sometimes. However, there is no easy way to delete network location once you added, right click does not have context menu. You can regedit and reset everything by deleting HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\WindowsBackup\ValidConfig like it wasn't setup before, which is not the best workaround.
