It starts in General Santos City, Mindanao, where the very poor Christian family of Pacquiao lives, threatend by the army and muslim rebells. Instead of goint to work the father prefers to play with his fighting cock. Cock fights are something very serious on the Philippines, I accidentally watched several when I was visiting.
The camera is very well and the locations have been chosen with care. The script is professional without any needless scenes. All the actors are very well, but the best definitely is Alessandra de Rossi as the mother.
An inspiring film about boxer Manny Pacquiao from his home country the Philippines! Focusing on his childhood and those tough young years establishing himself as a fighter. A biographical drama showing where he came from, the difficult odds he had to conquer and what drove him to become pound-for-pound the best boxer in the world. I got to give credit to Paul Soriano for not making this too sentimental, which is something which majority of filipino films suffers from. Instead it's an human approach which wins this one over!
Surprisingly better than I expected: I thought it worked so well as a biopic and as a boxing film without forgetting its heart. Though there are jarring tone shifts especially when the film starts to go to the sports drama route, Paul Soriano directed this with such energy and passion. I wish they have explored Pacquiao's dynamics with other characters, tho, particularly with Eugene (Khalil Ramos in a surprisingly good turn). Speaking of the performances, there's no single false note in here; all of them are in tune, complementing each other and rising above the material.
This film explores the life and boxing career of Emmanuel `Manny' Pacquiao. If you're a boxing fan this is a must and even if you're not, it's a great story of a young man who found his gift and pursued it.

Extremely enjoyable watch. The first half of the film was excellent. The movie was so exciting, I was cheering kid kulafu and showboxing. The second half however goes too fast and falls flat. Still a good movie. A truly inspiring movie about pre- champion boxing legend Manny Pacquiao.
