Well, my last status update. I posted this one on my blog:
http://cavemonkey50.com/2007/08/wordpress-podcasting-support-is-complete/

While the plugin is actually done, I plan to spend some time tomorrow
improving the readme file.

By the way, what are the future plans for the Summer of Code work?
Will most of these projects just be released as plugins or are you
looking to add core support?

That'll entirely depend on the code, the quality, the need, etc.
We're all free to release the code we've written as plugins(Infact I'd
personally encourage everyone to release it as a plugin and keep working
on it), Theres most likely going to be some code written in SoC suggested
for integrating into the core, but it all depends on what the community
thinks :) (Just look at Trac, if you want your code integrated, start a
Trac ticket and get people interested)

A new Trac ticket has been created. It will be interesting seeing what
people think: http://trac.wordpress.org/ticket/4777
