add funds feature

Hello im working on an highly modded version of wp-ecommerce for my
website but is it possible to create a feature for word press too add
funds ie so you can pay for the goods later or after maybe force make
users to deposit first in virtual funds.

before I start hacking into the core rather then working with plugins

Stephen, something like this is absolutely possible.  We've just completed a plugin that, if modified, could work for this.  We built a gift certificate plugin so purchasers are essentially making a deposit that will be used later.  The plugin tracks how much has been spent and subtracts it each time a purchase is made, keeping track of the total. In your situation you would of course have to be the bank for your purchasers as no third party payment solution is going to allow you to deposit "virtual" funds, but with a plugin the site could be the bank, you would use the manual payment gateway in wpec to take payments and you're pretty much set.

Definitely doable! Like David said, certainly within the realms of possibility - we just built a similar feature into our Group Deals plugin for referral credits.
