Good afternoon everyone!
May God bless and keep you this day and always!
This weekend we will celebrate the baptismal beginnings of six people. We give God thanks and praise for the action of the Holy Spirit to bring faith into their lives and through them, into the life of the community known as St. John's!!
We also will give God thanks for the completion of earthly baptismal journeys for 23 of our loved ones. This is the day that we formally remember them and the day that they moved on to heavenly surroundings in the past year. We light candles out of respect and remembrance for the important places they held and hold now in our lives. We are grateful for God's promise of eternal life for all who proclaim Christ as Savior. We also mourn and shed tears because we miss them in our presence. Remember that tears are God's gift for cleansing the soul.
There will be many family members and visitors on Sunday, please be on the lookout to welcome them and offer a word of encouragement as powerful emotions are turned over to God for healing and wholeness.
The readings for Sunday are as follows:
Daniel 7:1-3,15-18
Psalm 149
Ephesians 1:11-23
Luke 6:20-31
I look forward with joyful anticipation to seeing you ALL in church!!
Grace and peace,
Pastor Mark
