Good morning one and all!!
It has been a full and exciting week at St. John's:
  • the monthly congregational council meeting,
  • Faith Inkubators class on Wednesday evening as six of our young members prepare to publically affirm their faith,
  • An inspiring continuing education lecture at Wartburg Seminary on the connections between faith and science
  • Central Conference mission gathering with a focus in the 7 faith practices
  • preparation for Octoberfest at St. Paul this Sunday at 4:00 P.M.
  • This list names just a few of the many ministries happening in our shared faith life!  There are many more not named here that many of you are a part of- thank you!!
I trust that you will also share in the joy of participation with the ministry that God has given you passion for!!  Not involved right now?  Please let me know so that we can pray and plan together for your involvement.  There are many unfilled needs that go undone because we do not have enough willing persons coming forward.  From worship assistants in hospitality and technology to senior ministries, from young members to outreach efforts, we have multiple opportunities for involvment.  THe ELCA words, "God's work. Our hands!"  holds true!  Give me a call.  You will be glad you did!!

Regarding worship on Sunday, October 24th, (the 22nd Sunday of Pentecost) I pray that you will continue to find yourselves at worship, as so many did last Sunday!!  Wasn't God inspiring as we gathered with much enthusiasm and joy through the many voices, hearts and hands gathered to share worship time praising God?  I am counting on you continuing the essential habit of weekly worship!  Sunday school is based on preparing for worship together.  Our lives are just not the same when we do not take time for God first thing each week.  Thanks be to God for letting us know the essentials of healthy living- starting each Sunday by taking time to be with the people of God in God's house!!

Readings for Sunday are as follows:
Jeremiah 14:7-10,19-22
Psalm 84:1-7
2 Timothy 4:6-8, 16-18
Luke 18:9-14

I look forward with great joy to see you all in church and at St. Paul, Sterling for a fun afternoon of Octoberfest joy!!
Grace and peace,.
Pastor Mark
