Good afternoon a a gray day!
Today is the day we pause as a nation to give God thanks for our Veterans who have served the United States of America in any way. As your pastor, I am most grateful to serve God in a church where the nation in which it resides allows freedom of religious choice. I am grateful to the thousdands of men and women who have made this possible. Freedom is not free and many have paid a price beyond our knowing so that we may live. Even today, thousands are serving according to the request of our national leaders to do thier best in pursuit of preserving peace and freedom in the world. Thank you Veterans, one and all!!
Sunday, November 14th will be here shortly. As you plan your weekend, please remember the importance of weekly worship as part of God's gift of life to you. This week we will explore the word "praise" and how that word is used biblically as well as in our very day and time. The sermon is based on Psalm 98. There are plans for some quality music. We will have two members speak about their experience of God's amazing grace and how they respond.
Additionally, we will have two options during the hour between worship. Tim Ollefson will be here to share possibilities regarding Romanian orphange ministry! Meets in the fellowship hall with coffee available. I will be leading a discussion on the ELCA statement on "Care for Creation: Vision, Hope, Justice." We will meet in the library. The statement is available on line at ELCA..org should you choose to take a look at it in advance of the discussion. Take your young people to Sunday school and teach them the importance of that act by attending yourself. Just as a reminder to all: Sunday school is preparation for worship, it is not to be understood as being done in place of worship. Thank you for noting and living the example of faithful church school AND worship attendance!!
Please consider one or both of the above offerings between services.
Here are the readings for Sunday:
Deuteronomy 8:11-18
Psalm 28
I do as always look forward to seeing you in church on Sunday!
Grace and peace,
Pastor Mark
