Good afternoon everyone!
Friday blessings to you each and every one as we prepare for our first snowfall of the winter!
I trust that you are all able to participate in our community activities as you are able- the Sights and Sounds concert and parade, the annual LSSI “Seeing Stars” variety show, the Sterling Brass Concert to be held at St. John’s this Sunday evening at 7:00 P.M. What a lively time it is- and wonderful things to do together as community.
Of course the highlight of any week is the opportunity to worship the One who gives all of life to us. I trust that you will find your way at either 8:15A.M. or 10:45 A.M. to the sanctuary as we proclaim Jesus Lord and Savior of all!
The readings for Sunday are as follows:
Isaiah 11:1-10
Psalm 72:1-7,18-19
Romans 15:4-13
Matthew 3:1-12
The message this week is entitled: “A Gift Awaits You”
Immediately following worship we will hold a brief congregational meeting to discuss and vote upon the constitutional revisions as presented. We haven’t done a review since 1997 so this is a great time to get up to date in that department. There are not any major changes, just some clarifications and adjustments that have been considered by several persons at St. John’s, our congregational council, as well as the Northern Illinois Synod review team. I hope you will remain in the sanctuary after either service to attend to this matter. We do need a quorum in order to conduct this business before us. Thank you in advance to all who have had a part of preparing or will have a part on Sunday regarding this matter!!
Grace and peace,
I look forward with the joy of the Lord to seeing you in church on Sunday!
Pastor Mark
