Is there a new way to authenticate in order to use the API?

I've been using the Python3 API [1] - however, I can no longer authenticate via the API [2]:

"message": "The Wordnik v4 user authentication endpoint has been deprecated."

I have the same question. When I authenticate with GET /account.json/authenticate/{username}?password={password}, I get the error:

The Wordnik v4 user authentication endpoint has been deprecated.

Hi! We're so sorry for the hassle.

So for the Python3 library, if you include your API key as a variable (`apiKey = 'YOUR API KEY HERE'`)  you should not need to authenticate further.

However, if you were using the authenticate method to get a token to use to call list endpoints (to create, update, or delete lists), those endpoints have been deprecated. We are working to replace and update the list endpoints -- if you have list use cases, we would very much like to hear about them!

Erin,

This is still an important need for me. The only thing I (did) use the wordnik API for is to add words I don't know to a list - while simultaneously pulling down their definitions:

I've got a long backlog of new words - so I'd love to be able to authenticate in order to update lists via the API again!
