Hi folks.

I'm a big fan of wordle - it's a beautiful and flexible way to present
bulky textual information in and instantly-absorbable way. I know
Wordle didn't invent tag clouds, but they made them simple, elegant
and effective.

I would love to have a way to show the evolution of a tag cloud over
time. An animated zeitgeist.

We often use tag clouds to give an instant snapshot of partcipants'
work on a particular subject. The next logical step would seem to be
to show the evolution of their ideas as the re-iterate their work over
several cycles. I would imagine that it shouldn't be too complex to
liniarly increase/decrease the size of a word based on a starting/
ending value for its 'importance'...

Has this been done? Or, is anyone working on it?

Cheers

I'm not sure if this interesting example is what you're talking about.
It shows words appearing in presidential speeches from Washington to
Bush. A scrollbar lets you move along the time line.

P.S. I'm a big fan of Wordle too and I'd love to see Wordle support
something like this.

Hi folks.

Cheers

Hi,

I've created a library for Processing called OpenWordle. It comes with
an example of how to create an animated view of text.
