Wide, lightweight and aero; a ride-transforming alloy upgrade wheel upgrade for your rim brake bike. Tubeless-ready and optimized around 25-28c modern road tyres, allowing you take corners faster with more traction and confidence.
Stretch the gaps and burn the legs of your riding compatriots with incredible fast riding performance. You will take the corners faster and tighter than ever before due to the 24mm rim width opening out your tyre profile and providing incredible grip. The wide rim, working with a 25 or 28c tyre, will eat up rough roads allowing you to hold your line and carry your speed. The upgraded straight pull hubs and spokes reduce weight, add strength and respond instantly to your accelerations.
Our HFR Alloy+ rims are constructed using a heat treatment process, delivering far higher fatigue resistance than 6061-T6. High-polished aluminium finish. 31mm deep. 19mm internal and 24mm external width, creating an excellent tyre profile for wide road tyres and cross tyres up to 45c.
We've pushed the boundaries and added even more width and depth for extra grip, low aero drag and low rolling resistance. 24mm wide and 31mm deep rounded profile rim made from an enriched alloy that builds into a sub 1500g wheelset. HFR+ alloy is a material that uses a heat-treatment process which delivers outstanding weight, stiffness and durability meaning rims can be wider and deeper for better aero performance and yet remain super-light for excellent climbing and acceleration.
H-Lock is our tubeless-ready rim bed profile with up-kicks to the shoulders of the tubeless steps which help to create a great rim-well seal for first installation and easy sealing of tubeless tyres. The H-Lock profile also locks the beads in place more securely once seated. This is especially important when running lower pressures or riding off-road.
The heart of any wheel. Investing in them makes huge sense. We use high-grade precision smooth-rolling sealed cartridge bearings by Japanese experts EZO. This wheelset has three of the rear hub bearings upgraded to S&S low-friction LU/LB seals on the internal bearing face to further reduce rolling resistance whilst maintaining excellent sealing on the exposed faces.
Durability is a theme for HUNT as time and money you spend fixing is time and money you cannot spend riding or upgrading your bikes. As a result, we've developed the H_CERAMIK coating to provide excellent durability and protect against cassette sprocket damage often seen on standard alloy freehub bodies.
We chose the top-of-the-range Pillar Spoke Re-enforcement PSR XTRA models. These butted blade aero spokes are lighter and provide a greater degree of elasticity to maintain tensions longer and add fatigue resistance. PSR spokes feature the 2.2 width at the head providing more material in this high stress area. Nipples are 14mm alloy, anodized and come with a hex head so you can achieve precise tensioning. Combining components well is key which is why all Hunt wheels are hand-built.
Lightweight alloy nipples are the right decision to make for a high-performance wheelset where weight matters, plus we use longer 14mm nipples to provide great strength and a long thread connection with the spokes. The nipples also feature square bodies with a hex head (hex spoke key provided with the wheels) to allow ease of tensioning and maintenance.
The little details matter, the HUNT Race Season quick-release skewers use brass for the cam, which has self lubricating properties. We have also upgraded to stainless steel springs in order to prevent rusting.
All HUNT wheels models have to pass our harsh cobbled-rolling-road tests for rider weight limits, please see here for more details. Max system weight 115 kg (system weight total weight of fully kitted up rider, bike and luggage). If the system is over 105 kg then an experienced bike mechanic should check the wheel regularly.

What most athletes are referring to when they talk about race wheels are special aerodynamic wheels. These wheels have deep rims that slice through the wind and can help you ride faster. Leading to faster race times and better placing in races. But there is a problem.
Riding aerodynamic wheels takes time to master. Your bike will handle differently than you are accustomed to especially on windy days and on climbs. Wheels dictate how a bike is going to handle more than any other aspect of the bike. For this reason it takes your body time to learn all the nuances of handing the bike in various conditions. The best way to learn do this is to ride your special wheels every day.
I am suggesting that you abolish the concept of race day only wheels and ride daily on your special aero wheels. During your daily training rides is where you will really learn to handle the wheels in all conditions. How they ride over bumps, how the wheels feel in corners and how they feel when a strong cross wind kicks up. This not conscious learning but rather subconscious. Essentially you are learning how to make micro corrections to your body to handle or balance the bicycle.
Riding your aero wheels daily will give you much more confidence because your bike will ride as it always does in training. Riding a bike is a very complex task for your brain. Much of your energy goes into the subconscious thought processing that your body has to do to keep your upright. It takes time for your body to build the pathways for new tasks. Even a simple task such as holding a different phone for example takes time until it is comply engrained. Think of what you are asking your brain to do when you use completely different wheels on your bike. Surprises are good at birthday parties not on the day of your big race such as a ironman triathlon.
Do you want to feel faster of do you want to go faster? By training daily on your aero wheels you will ultimately ride faster on all of your rides including the at your big race.
If you just use your special wheels on race day you will not get the full benefit and you may even ride slower because you lake the confidence to properly handle the wheels.
A good set of race wheels are tough and light. It is easy to assume that the lighter wheels are just not as strong or durable as your daily training wheels. This is not the case with good racing wheels. In most cases they are much stronger than standard wheels. They can take an incredible amount of abuse. If your race wheels are not as strong as your standard wheels you should question weather you would want to use them at all in an important race that you have trained so hard to do well in. The only down side of using your expensive wheels daily is that if you crash and damage your wheels it is a bit more painful on your wallet. Ride your good wheels every day.
I split the difference. I do not ride my race wheels everyday. Instead I ride them occasionally on non raceways. I even, gasp, sometimes leave my race wheels at home on race day. Especially if I know a course I am racing on has a history of poor road conditions or poor bike handlers.
@rgrissom Its no biggie. I ride mine daily on all sorts of roads. I hear what you are saying though. Its painful if you crash and ruin your nice wheels. Can happen but generally you will get few flats and will have lots of time to enjoy your nice wheels.
Our wood floors have ridges on them which send the cars in funny directions (hand scraped texture), so we have been playing with the race track on the rug. We put two sheets of poster board (taped together) in front of the race track, and that has worked well.
To give the ramp plenty of support, my husband cut one of the flaps off the bottom of the box and taped it to the top flap as shown in the photo below. He taped this support structure to the bottom of the box to keep it secure.
