Anew version of Lossless Cut Portable has been released. Lossless Cut is a lossless video and audio cutter to trim media files without re-encoding. It's packaged in PortableApps.com Format for easy use from any portable device and integration with the PortableApps.com Platform. And it's open source and completely free.
LosslessCut aims to be the ultimate cross platform FFmpeg GUI for extremely fast and lossless operations on video, audio, subtitle and other related media files. The main feature is lossless trimming and cutting of video and audio files, which is great for saving space by rough-cutting your large video files taken from a video camera, GoPro, drone, etc. It lets you quickly extract the good parts from your videos and discard many gigabytes of data without doing a slow re-encode and thereby losing quality. Or you can add a music or subtitle track to your video without needing to encode. Everything is extremely fast because it does an almost direct data copy, fueled by the awesome FFmpeg which does all the grunt work. Learn more about Lossless Cut...
Lossless Cut Portable is packaged in a PortableApps.com Installer so it will automatically detect an existing PortableApps.com installation when your drive is plugged in. And it's in PortableApps.com Format, so it automatically works with the PortableApps.com Platform including the Menu and Backup Utility.
LosslessCut is available as an AppImage which means "one app = one file", which you can download and run on your Linux system while you don't need a package manager and nothing gets changed in your system. Awesome!
AppImages are single-file applications that run on most Linux distributions. Download an application, make it executable, and run! No need to install. No system libraries or system preferences are altered. Most AppImages run on recent versions of Arch Linux, CentOS, Debian, Fedora, openSUSE, Red Hat, Ubuntu, and other common desktop distributions.
If you would like to have the executable bit set automatically, and would like to see LosslessCut and other AppImages integrated into the system (menus, icons, file type associations, etc.), then you may want to check the optional appimaged daemon.
Please consider to add update information to the LosslessCut AppImage and ship a .zsync file so that it can be updated using AppImageUpdate. Tools like appimagetool and linuxdeployqt can do this for you easily.

I have a Dell G15 Ryzen 7 5800H, 16GB RAM, 512SSD, RTX3060Ti setup. I've been using DaVinci Resolve 18 on Windows 11 for a while now and I love the program but didn't realize it was available on Linux.
I just installed Zorin OS 16.2 64-bit core edition this morning. I've been using Zorin OS for a while now for my Development job (.Net Core C#/Blazor) and I love it. I managed to get DaVinci Resolve 18 installed on my new installation without issue today. It should be noted that I installed the nVidia version of the OS as well.

I want to say thank you for helping me get rid of the error. It appears to have installed correctly. I can play the video from my drive It just won't import into Resolve 18 like it normally would on this computer when I had win 11 on it. Maybe i just need to get on their forums and see if they have any suggestions. But I can see and play it now from the drive so I greatly appreciate your help.
That's fantastic. I am going to mark this thread as the solution to getting it the codec installed since I am able to see my video now. Once again I greatly appreciate your help. Have a pleasant evening.
For anyone else that is curious, I just found my answer. H.265 D-log video is not supported in the Free Version of Resolve 18 on Linux. It works in windows just not on Linux in the free version. Hope that helps someone.
At this point I wonder if there are files/packages somewhere maybe in cache, or some in temp folder, that will serve no purpose, and maybe reap havoc for a future process. I see it states that no files or packages were upgraded, but does the failed install initiate a cleanup of the install attempt?
If your initial inquiry has been answered to your satisfaction and you have resolved your issue, please mark the relevant post leading to the solution as such for the topic to close and for the future generations with similar problem to find the solution more easily.
It then runs the script locally to build a package, the result of which is an archive with an extension .zst. Then this package is installed normally on the system. If there are dependencies for this new package, they are also installed, if not already present on the system.
Sure. I get it. It wasn t my intention to drop the ball. How I solved the problem was to select a different losslesscut submission in aur. I initially chose, losslesscut-git, (the one that was most reciently updated.) It had the error. When that didn t work I chose (losslesscut-bin). It had no error, so that s what I went with.

I was cleaning out my PC of programs that I did not use much and I deleted a program called LosslessCut. But, that same day, I saw a suggestion for this program on the PTE Facebook site, I think. I had an older version that I could not figure out how to use too well but I saw they have an updated version (easier to use). I downloaded it and I think it will come in very handy to trim or cut up long videos. It was a little hard to figure out at first but I finally see how to use it. For example, it you have a very long video and want to cut it up into several shorter clips to bring into PTE, this program works very well (and much more).
When I began recording Covert Affairs from Start TV on 1/19, I saw there was no episode data associated with it. I decided to copy it to a Local Content folder and rename it so it would have the SnnEnn format in the filename and not interfere with successive recordings.
