Is This Corona-calypse? (Revelation 6:12-17)

The Apocalypse is generally believed to depict events that shall occur at the end of the world. During this period, prophecies, from both old and new testaments, that refer to the end of all things shall be fulfilled: there shall be diseases, plagues, the sun and moon will go dark and no longer give their lights and the stars shall fall from the sky; earthquakes shall occur. There shall be famine and death and many shall cry uncontrollably. The rich and other highly placed people shall hide themselves and pray for the mountains and rocks to fall on them to shield them from God and His judgment.
When I wrote, last week, on the subject “Signs of Things to Come?,” little did I know that what we were witnessing were just the beginning of actions that would be taken in attempts to shut down the Coronavirus. This past week, we’ve seen far more surprising and, in many cases, unprecedented actions taken by governments and private institutions, as part of measures to contain the spread of the virus. Some of these include; shutting down elementary schools and moving college lectures to online only, countries like Italy, Spain and France are on complete lockdown while others like Poland and Lithuania close doors to international flights. The U.S. bars entire European continent from coming to America. Sports are either being played in completely empty stadia or are being suspended, while entire seasons are cancelled. Movie theaters are shut down and late-night shows are suspended. Aircrafts are turned around mid-air to go back to base because of emergency policy announcements. Churches and other religious worship places are closed as countries bar gatherings of more than certain number of people. Leaders of countries and mayors of cities either test positive to the virus or are in isolation based on exposure to those who are positive. The capital market saw its worst week ever. There’s panic buying everywhere, with long lines in stores and governments advise their citizens to come back home while it’s still possible to do so.
Seeing what I have seen this past week, I am more than convinced that we are seeing a dress rehearsal of occurrences at the end of days. In Luke 21:25-28, Jesus told His disciples:
“And there will be signs in the sun, in the moon, and in the stars; and on the earth distress of nations, with perplexity, the sea and the waves roaring; men’s hearts failing them from fear and the expectation of those things which are coming on the earth, for the powers of the heavens will be shaken. Then they will see the Son of Man coming in a cloud with power and great glory. Now when these things begin to happen, look up and lift up your heads, because your redemption draws near.”
For children of God, these things are never meant to create fear because we know the God that we serve. in Job 19:25, the Bible says:
For I know that my Redeemer lives, and He shall stand at last on the earth.
We know that our God reigns, praise the Lord, and that He is in charge in heaven and on earth. Nothing happens that He is not aware of and in all things, our welfare is topmost on His mind. He will shield His own from Coronavirus and for the sake of the elect, I pray that this time is cut short so our churches can reopen, and the work of His Kingdom can run unhindered.
There is, perhaps, no better time than now, to remind family members and friends who are yet to accept Christ into their lives, that the end will come one day. Just as predicted in the Bible, there will be a time when life as we know it shall cease and all flesh will have to give account of their time here on earth before our creator. As the Bible says in Revelation 20:15:
Anyone whose name was not found written in the book of life was thrown into the lake of fire.
This will not be our portion in Jesus’ name, but we need to alert others also, so no one is caught unawares. If the love of anyone has gone cold, this is the time to return and rededicate our lives to Christ. Today, we enter another week with plenty of uncertainty, but with God, everything is certain. I commit us all into the Hands of the God that never fails. Go with confidence because our Maker would have us do nothing less. It is well with us all. Amen.

Lord I know that I am a sinner and I am unable to save myself. I am sorry for my sins and I pray that you please forgive me. I am aware that Your Son Jesus died for my sins and I accept Him as my Lord and savior. I surrender my life unto you from this moment. Please take control of my entire being and help me to be obedient to your Word, going forward. Thank you, Lord, for hearing me. I have prayed in Jesus’ name. Amen.
If you prayed the foregoing prayer, you have just been born again. Please find a Bible believing church in your area and ask to see the pastor. Let him or her know that you have just given your life to Christ and s/he will guide you on next steps in your journey as a child of God. The Lord bless you!
