God’s Unfailing Plans (Psalm 89:34, Matthew 24:35)

I can say, without doubts, that there were few times when I made plans and did not carry them out, mostly because I did not have the sheer will or courage to do so (in other words, I chickened out), only to remake the plans at a later date. Can you imagine creating a plan and going back and forth on it? Yeah, that’s human. I expect that some are better in executing their plans than I am, but I suspect that most people are probably in the same shoes as I am. That’s human. Compare this to God, who says in Psalm 89 verse 34:

My covenant will I not break, nor alter the thing that is gone out of my lips

For those who are gifted with reading the stance behind written statements, you would immediately pick the confidence and certainty behind this statement. God is sure, without doubts, that He will not break His covenant. Not only that, He will not alter His Words, for any reason. It doesn’t get stronger than that.

One of God’s plans was to make Abraham a father of many nations (Genesis 17:4). To anyone who was alive in Abraham’s time, this was a mere joke. Abraham was very old, and Sarah, his wife, was not young. No one would believe that a woman who was 90 years old would become pregnant, let alone giving birth to a baby, but it happened (Genesis 21:1-5), and that was the foundation of what would become the twelve tribes of Israel, in other words, the 12 nations of Israel. Next, in spite of the many invasions of Israel and the captivities they endured, God promised, through Isaiah, Ezekiel and other prophets, that Israel would come back to their own land and become a recognized nation. Against all odds, this occurred in 1948.

In Isaiah 9:6-7, God promised to send Jesus Christ, His only Son, who would deliver us from our sins and set us on the pedestal of righteousness.  Even Israel, to whom Christ was primarily promised, did not believe this, nor do many Israelis believe today, that Christ already came. God fulfilled His plan and promise, this is the reason you and I are Christians today. Christ came, taught, empowered and anointed disciples who would carry the work forward. We are all witnesses to the explosion of the gospel in recent decades and years.

You know what else God promised? The second coming of Jesus! Crazy as it may seem to the world, one day, Jesus will come back, and all eyes will see Him. When Jesus resurrected and was ascending into heaven, the apostles were watching Him go, sorrowfully, then the angel of God appeared to them:

“Men of Galilee,” they said, “why do you stand here looking into the sky? This same Jesus, who has been taken from you into heaven, will come back in the same way you have seen him go into heaven.”

Most people don’t believe this today, but just as people didn’t believe His plans in the past, this too, is set to come to pass. And, just as God’s general plans will not fail, His specific plans, too, won’t. So, if God has announced for you a specific plan, it does not matter how many years ago the announcement was, it will come to pass. God is not limited by space, time or distance. You may think that you’re getting old and this plan is yet to materialize. That’s a fair thought, but God will still make His Word good, and when He does, you would notice that it came at the best time. In Numbers 23:19, the Bible says:

God is not a man, that He should lie, nor a son of man, that He should repent. Has He said, and will He not do? Or has He spoken, and will He not make it good?

And, if you’re unsure of God’s plan for you, this does not mean that He does not have one, because in Jeremiah 29:11, the Bible says:

For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, says the Lord, thoughts of peace and not of evil, to give you a future and a hope

Man’s plans may fail or may not even make it to execution, but God is not man. If He plans something, He must surely execute it. As you go into this new week, please ask God to reveal His specific plans for you and to bring them to pass. May He grant answers to your prayers, in Jesus’ name. Amen. Enjoy your week!

PLEASE ACT NOW:

If you are yet to give your life to Christ, you do not have a covenant with God and His promises do not apply to you. To come under these promises, please surrender your life to Christ today, by praying this prayer:

Lord I know that I am a sinner and I am unable to save myself. I am sorry for my sins and I pray that you please forgive me. I am aware that Your Son Jesus died for my sins and I accept Him as my Lord and savior. I surrender my life unto you from this moment. Please take control of my entire being and help me to be obedient to your Word, going forward. Thank you, Lord, for hearing me. I have prayed in Jesus’ name. Amen.

If you prayed the foregoing prayer, you have just been born again. Please find a Bible believing church in your area and ask to see the pastor. Let him or her know that you have just given your life to Christ and s/he will guide you on next steps in your journey as a child of God. The Lord bless you!
