Never to Die Again! (Hebrews 10:1-18)

The imperfection of man is limitless. If you can show me a man who has never made a mistake, I’ll be glad to show you one who has never tried anything (paraphrased from Albert Einstein). Infallibility is an exclusive reserve of God. As far as humans are concerned, nothing is perfect. People try things over and over again until they attain a situation of ‘good enough.’

Look at what was happening under the Law: the veil separated the Holy of Holies from the rest of the temple. Only the High Priest could enter this most holy place, once a year, with blood, to make sacrifices and plead for the forgiveness of sins committed in ignorance by himself and by the people (Hebrews 9:7). In order to temporarily satisfy God, this activity needed to be repeated every year. Each time the sacrifice was made, some animals had to die, because there is no remission of sin without blood (Hebrews 9:22).

When Jesus came into the picture, everything changed. He came with the same mission – to make sacrifice for the sins of the people (not for Himself, for, He had no sin), and to reconcile them unto God. However, as soon as He did that, the veil separating the Holy of Holies from the temple was torn into two, meaning, it is finished. This time, God was happy that full payment had been made and everyone could now come into the Holy of Holies. Jesus’ perfect Blood was shed once and it was enough to pay for the sins of all, from generation to generation. In Hebrews 10:11-14, the Bible says:

And every priest stands ministering daily and offering repeatedly the same sacrifices, which can never take away sins. But this Man, after He had offered one sacrifice for sins forever, sat down at the right hand of God, from that time waiting till His enemies are made His footstool. For by one offering He has perfected forever those who are being sanctified.

No human being can save another, and no one can do what Christ has done. Even if we find people who are willing to give up their lives for others, their blood is not acceptable as offering for the forgiveness of sins. How can the blood stained with sin atone for sin? Only the sinless Blood of Jesus Christ is qualified to wash sins away.

Jesus’ resurrection on the third day after death is proof of the eternal victory over sin and death, for those who surrender their lives unto Him. Never again will death harass a child of God. Our Savior conquered it and has given us a certificate of completion for this purpose. Sadly, some Jews actually believe that their savior is yet to come. One thing is sure: there will never be a time again, now or in the future, when Jesus will die a second time. It is done, and it is finished. The sacrifice for sin has been made and has been accepted by God. All praise and honor to the risen King!

Don’t just celebrate Easter. Ask yourself if you have appropriated the benefits of Christ’s death and resurrection. Be sure in your heart that death is conquered, because it is only useful as transportation to eternal life. If you are not sure, then please surrender your life today, without further hesitation. Also, please inform those close to you to do the same, if they haven’t. Let your life and testimonies affect others far and near, positively, so they too can give their lives to Christ. There will never be a decision in your entire lifetime, that trumps this. As we enter a new week, may God go with us and shield us and our families from the plague of the moment, and from future ones also. Remain blessed!

PLEASE ACT NOW:

If you are yet to give your life to Christ, you do not have a covenant with God and His promises do not apply to you. To come under these promises, please surrender your life to Christ today, by praying this prayer:

Lord I know that I am a sinner and I am unable to save myself. I am sorry for my sins and I pray that you please forgive me. I am aware that Your Son Jesus died for my sins and I accept Him as my Lord and savior. I surrender my life unto you from this moment. Please take control of my entire being and help me to be obedient to your Word, going forward. Thank you, Lord, for hearing me. I have prayed in Jesus’ name. Amen.

If you prayed the foregoing prayer, you have just been born again. Please find a Bible believing church in your area and ask to see the pastor. Let him or her know that you have just given your life to Christ and s/he will guide you on next steps in your journey as a child of God. The Lord bless you!
