Hi,

I have a large queue of Instapaper articles to read - probably over
600 (!)

I tried to sync with Ephemera, but it seemed to timeout/exceed on the
Instapaper API. Curious if Wordcycler will deal with this better - (I
have both Windows and OS X)

Curious what the best practice is for syncing/managing a large queue.

Thanks

Wow, that's a lot of items...

Wordcycler should handle it okay. It will limit you to 200 downloads
on the device at one time. Once you sit down, read all day, and clear
those out, you can sync and get 200 more.

Wordcycler fetches each article from its original source website and
cleans it locally, so it shouldn't trigger Instapaper rate limiting
when you fetch. However, it may trigger it when it tries to delete
all those, because each delete action is a separate http request. But
it will queue up the archive actions and eventually get it done.

Thanks for the quick response. Curious if it'll pull the oldest 200
items, or the newest....

Truthfully I'm an OS X user, but I do have Windows via VMWare Fusion -
it's just another layer that gets in the way of Instakindle goodness -
hopefully the next version of Ephemera handles this better. In the
meantime, appreciate all your hard work on the Windows side!

I knew I spoke too soon...

I just discovered that Instapaper implements paging on the folder
views, which would automatically limit Wordcycler to syncing the first
40 items on your list. (I think that's recent, but I don't know - I
don't usually have more than 10 or so items on my list at any given
time.) The next version will address this, but for now, that's a
limit. And come to think about it, that could be what's tripping up
Ephemera.

You're not going crazy James - I think Instapaper only started
paginating in the last few days. Sadly it's removed most of my queue
from my Kindle! Hopefully you can find a workaround for a future
version.

Ouch. I didn't think about that. I guess that's the fun of
integrating with a website with no official API.

The good news is I've successfully worked around it on the development
version. I'm trying to hammer out a couple more bugs, and hope to
have a new release out very soon. If anyone wants to help and test
out the new version before I release it, send me an e-mail.

Hi James,

Thanks for your response on the mobileread forum (http://
www.mobileread.com/forums/showthread.php?p=1261554)

Haven't tried Wordcycler recently, but will try it again.

Curious; will it sort articles by date? Hopefully newest at the
top... :)

Cheers

Cool. Let me know if you run into any problems. I haven't figured
out what magic the Kindle uses to order articles, but it's likely not
newest to oldest, unfortunately.
