Hey Team,
I just got this back from Tony Scott, one of the most motivated individuals on the WordCamp UK mailing list I've ever met. I posted a question to them in the UK mailing list asking what they link of their list vs other technologies. Its kind of what I already suspected.
I agree with Tony about extra channels - I think we should discuss things in here, and then once we've hit consensus we move things to the WordPress site.
Ciao,
Dan

Hi Dan
The majority of communications for WordCamp UK is through a combination of this
mailing list and the wiki
http://wiki.wordcampuk.tonyscott.org.uk/
The mailing list is for discussion, whilst the wiki is often used to document
consensus reached on the list.
There is also separate traffic between members of the Core Group
http://wiki.wordcampuk.tonyscott.org.uk/WordCamp_UK_Core_Group
who are involved in proposing and formulating policy, etc, which, after
discussion, is normally opened for wider discussion on the mailing list.
The Core Group, legally, is WordCamp UK
http://wiki.wordcampuk.tonyscott.org.uk/WordCamp_UK_Constitution_v1.0
From our point of view, I think adding further channels, eg a BuddyPress site,
would diffuse discussions, would make it difficult to keep across what is going
on, and could lead to confusion and misunderstandings (something I've seen in
other projects that have myriad areas where discussion can take place).
I agree with Tony,
Esp on sponsorships & negotiations there needs to be multiple channels.
Im a fan of wikis for the content side.
BuddyPress we just all need to use more so it can be made better for
clients.
