I too am highly motivated after attending WordCamp 2010, and living in
Wellington I am eager to be able to assist with the next WordCamp
early next year.

My only question is where we are going to have the 'official' lists/
groups etc... the DB admin in me (as well as the LOTR fan) is a big
believer in One Group To Rule Them All, and a single source of data
rather than replicating or distributing information through different
sources.

Anyway, lets keep this momentum going and try to ease some of the
burden on the current organisers.

ATB,
Sam

Sam,

I reckon there is some detail re venues and sponsors especially that
needs to be secure until firm bookings have been made.

In the past we have used WordPress.com sites in protected mode. I
personally like that but not so useful for everyone.

We have been testing a BuddyPress setup for the wider NZ community and
want to go live on that soon but probably need some speakers and
others to seed some new content and setup real groups etc. A
BuddyPress implementation will allow for lots more contact between
events and make it easier for others to find active WP professionals.

The easiest way to communicate in my opinion is to just hit reply to any email sent to this list.

Since you're in WGTN and I'm in WGTN why don't you come introduce yourself to the guys here at Instinct HQ.

In terms of venue some interesting options have come up. My brother in law is friends with the guys who own the abandoned Railto Cinema so it might be possible to host it there. I just don't know how many seats there are in the biggest cinema - I'll find out now by emailing Leon to get some info rolling in.

My wife just started working at Wellington City Art Gallery and they have a theatre that might suit. Meanwhile my efforts for WGTN have been focused towards Te Papa since that is where my wife used to work and we have good contacts there.

Best,
Dan
