I'm a fan of:
(oh, and they use WordPress!) :)

This would be a nice, low cost, very central location (it's opposite Southern Cross station). Would mean we could focus on creating a kick ass program instead of hunting for sponsors to pay for an expensive venue.
Trampoline (unconference) is hosted there and it's great. Accessibility has been a bit of an issue previously, but hopefully as part of the renovation they're doing at the moment, they'll be getting the elevator fixed!!!

Cheers,
Sarah

The p2 is located at http://wordcampau.wordpress.com/ although I think Anthony needs to invite you to be able to participate.

And me! That said its 6pm and I'm still at work... garrrr!!!

So is there a conversation going on in another place or not? If there is a P2 site everybody on this list should have been invited via this list.. so that everybody is in loop...

Hi all,
I'm still around but won't be at the WP meetup on the 30th. Friday evenings are a no-go for work stuff for me.

Cheers,
Sarah

Resend me your details if you don't have an account and I'll create you one. A wee bit disorganized. If you guys want to come to the wp meetup on the 30th of June in melb, I'll be there and we can have a bit of a chat.

Yes I thought the conversation had relocated and I missed the bus,

Anthony did you create that other site for us to chat on?
Seem to remember you were putting together a better chat area using P2.
Did that go ahead and I just missed the invite?

Tony

Please do. Was meaning too but having a bit of a rush right now. Call the zoo as well if you can. It'd be great.

Hey Dan,

I can hear the crickets, can you? Everyone must be busy busy. :)

The State Library of Victoria & RMIT were the top picks for venue. Last thing I heard was about a month ago from Anthony:

I'm going to call the State Library of Victoria and RMIT to try and clarify their availability and operating cost.
Another possibility for a venue I've just lurched on is http://www.zoosvictoriafunctions.com.au/.

Anthony, any updates? No problems if other commitments are consuming your time, just let us know where you're at and Dan or I can take it from there.

Brent

 How is everybody going?

So what venues have we decided are coolest from 1 - 10. I'll call them today if need be...

I've been looking at using Wellington Highschool for the NZ Feb WordCamp or possibly even Te Papa our museum.

Best,
Dan

I meant WordCamp - we'd need to check max capacity though - think Trampoline gets ~150 people.

I agree with Sarah, Donkey Wheel would be a great venue, huge space for large meetings, workshops and plenty of space for break out sessions. Easy to get to and good parking options on the weekend.

I've emailed them to get some info on dates and availability.

While we're having a venue fest (and because I'm investigating venues for a work conference I'm organising)... I'm attending a conf at this place (With Darren Rowse) so will report back on what it's like. Looks like it offers everything we'd need, in a cheap cheerful daggy package. :D
For those who don't know Melb that well, Fairfield is one stop out from Northcote, so it's an inner northern suburb - I'm guessing 15 minute train ride from the city.

Cheers

Donkey Wheel House looks & sounds cool (what a name!). But it looks tiny: "The boardroom seats up to 22 people comfortably."

I'm guessing there are others areas for conference style if it can fit ~150. I look forward to hearing what their capacity is though as it would be great to have a relaxed, low cost venue.

Looks pretty cool to me Sarah,

Aren't you awesome at finding venues, thanks for the effort.
As others are saying, as long as it can accomodate enough people. 150 capacity might be all we need, anyone expecting more than 150?

If numbers are ok I think it looks really warm and friendly with tonnes of character, certainly gets my vote.
