Just (finally) had a chat with the guys over at Linux Australia - Sarah sent me to a guy who explained a bit about what they have going on.
What would essentially happen is that we would become a subcommittee of Linux Australia - we would get bank accounts, etc. They'd give us some seed money to put deposits on venues and whatever else we wanted. We'd need 3 or so of us to ensure that all of this still happened every year and keep on with the conference.
We'd need to place a return on the conference every year after our first year - and whatever we earned from the conference would be put into another pool of seed money that would be used to support WordPress-related community projects.
Does anyone have any objections to this? It's gotten me really excited about WordCamp in general - I think it's a very lucrative thing for us to do, and I think it'll be a huge bonus for the conference in general.
