Hey All,

I've just posted a meeting summary (with MP3) on the WordCamp AU Blog - http://wp.me/phqNB-6l .

Well done guys. Sorry I couldn't make it - I'm loving the collaborative vibe though!

I'll email my thoughts on summer WordCamp NZ tomorrow. But essentially the plan is to hold WGTN WordCamp the week after Melbourne. You guys should all try to make it down and similarly we'll try to get a posse of Kiwis going to yours.

On that note I think it should be an annual thing where our camps are always a weekend apart :)

Best,
Dan

Coordinate it with webstock, or else we'll lock you up in a cage and feed you pineapple lumps when you're in melbourne next... ;)

I've emailed Jane Wells and told her about what we're doing. This is awesome guys.

Webstock is during the week 14th > 18th Feb. You guys that weekend. And us the next. I'll do what I can - are you just wanting them to promote us?

Also maybe we should discuss on list here who we want to come from Automattic i.e. Matt M and Andrew Peatling, and then we make a proposal for Jane. Our unique selling point is 2 WCs in 2 weekends :)

Night guys!

And webstock in between. Those 3 combined is quite the selling point. :)

+1 vote for Matt M & Andy Peatling (this should be moved to a different thread before hijacking the meeting summary).

Hi guys,
We suggested at the meeting tonight that WC NZ run the weekend prior to Webstock, and WC Aus run the weekend afterwards. That way people can conceivably attend all 3 events if they wish (!).
Alternatively, running Webstock then WC Aus then WC NZ as Dan suggests will mean the two WordCamps are just a week apart, making it easier for Automattic guests & any others flying in from overseas to attend both WCs. But it also means Aussies wanting to attend Webstock will need to skip WordCamp NZ or do two trips to NZ, which seems a bit crazy/expensive.
Personally as long as there is no clash between WC AU and Webstock, I'm a happy camper. :)

Cheers,
Sarah

Hi everyone,

Just finished listening to the meeting recording from today. Apologies for not 'attending' on Skype. I am based in Sydney so will be remotely helping out.

As Anthony mentioned I am happy to help promote the event via social media, blogs posts etc and if I heard correctly Charly put her hand up to do part of the social media area but needs help as its a huge task. I am happy to connect with Charly to work on that area.

I really like the point raised about marketing to the end users of WordPress that aren't really developers and don't know a lot about Automatic etc. A huge market that frankly need us to help them become really acquainted with the social side of Wordpress.

Also another good point raised was that the google groups page doesn't allow most of us to respond from directly from the page. Dan is there some settings you need to tweak to give us write access?

I look forward to catching up with Anthony in a few weeks and anyone else who comes to Sydney. I host a coffee morning in the Inner West every Wed from 8-10am for freelancers of all varieties please join us if you're in town.

best regards
Tony Cosentino

The week before won't work because there is a thing here called FooCamp... Thoughts?

I'm happy to remotely help with generating buzz in social media as well

Also agree about marketing to end users rather than developers.

When I suggest wordpress to a small business or self-publisher or creative, they need help understanding it but it would help if they were aware of the brand as stable and  easy to use, since mentioning a CMS, specially to people who have been stung by previously complex CMS' in the past, is not helpful.

unfortunately, missing your coffee morning again Tony but will get there eventually!

Hi all,

Great call - nice to meet new people too.

That's great Tony !  I'll contact you off list and I guess we can work out what needs to happen...

Anthony - I'm happy to take on the Social Media bit and work with a few (up to 4 I guess) people to make sure we're covered...

Charly
