Hi Richard and All: I am proposing that we set up an E-Bike Share in Worcester. And this project is going to be successful. Pioneer Valley Bikes paired with Bewegen Co. (an e-bike company operating out of Quebec in No. America) have launched a successful e-bike share in Amherst, Northampton, Easthampton, Holyoke, Springfield and W. Springfield. So now I’m recruiting them to come to Worcester. I’ve already been in contact with Martijn, the rep/engineer that set up Pioneer Valley Bike share. (His email is listed above). He wants to meet with interested folks, and city admin (zoom, of course) to talk about setting up a bike share.

The City did say they were interested in looking into another bike share. The last bike share we had in the Woo failed because it was dockless; bikes ended up all over the place. With this company, you can have either, but we’re going to set up a docked bike share, so we can manage it better. Bewegen manages the project, sets up the app, the dock sites and charging stations, maintains the bikes, all under contract to the City. We’ll work out a budget—it would be roughly the same as those in Amherst and Springfield.
So would you at least be interested in talking to Martijn/Bewegen? If we can get some folks from Walk-Bike Worcester and other energy transition groups, Central Mass Planning Commission—we can have a serious discussion.
Please let me know ASAP if you want to help out.
