Style sheet rendering is significantly different between Safari and Windows. To see this, try creating a page that has an element with a z-index of -1. The windows version will function without issue, the Mac version will not allow you to select the elements. Trust me, I wasted about three hours trying to figure out by trial and error why a page would work in one system but not the other. The worst bit is that when Safari doesn't render something properly, it does so without any indication. You have to debug line for line, a dreadful experience.

I am currently experiencing an issue where floating images in a blog with text wrapping around the image do not properly pad themselves in OS X; works fine in windows. Basically I've added padding to make the image align flush left or right such that the edge of the image is at the same offset as the edge of the text of the post; on OS X the image sticks out past the edge of the text.

I am working on a website that has pretty standard layout. I have a box that contains other divs. It works on all major browsers, from IE6+, FF3+, etc. On Safari 5 on OSX, the box is totally to the left, outside the borders of my website. On the same safari version in windows, no problem.I am going crazy over this.

How can I merge a single-page Safari window (with no tabs) with another specific Safari window (which probably contains a few tabs) while leaving other Safari windows intact in a single action? Sort of like how I can do it with individual tabs.

When doing research using Safari, I open lots of tabs with potentially useful resources, and when there are enough of them, sort them into different Safari windows according to various criteria for further processing.

I think probably the best way is to reveal the sidebar, then look at the tab groups. You may just have the default "X Tabs" at the top of each window. You can expand that and drag and drop tabs between windows into that default tab group.

If the Move Window is then moving the window to a different desktop and that is resulting in the window being under other windows, that is weird. The Bring Application Windows to Front action might resolve it (assuming they are not Safari windows that are in front of it).

I have a website. I've been testing crossbrowser on my windows PC, and it looks good in all browsers, but on Mac in Safari it looks like the CSS is not getting interpreted right, or there is a critical javascript error.

I suggest you to use platforms like Browser stack or Saucelab to run automated tests developed on windows OS. So you can write a test on one OS and run on multiple OS and Browser versions. This would help you to save huge test effort.

It never ceases to amaze me how out of control the desktop version of Apple's Safari can get when it comes to open windows. I'll have one window open, and I'll click on a link from Apple Mail, only to find it opens a new window.

Even if I have Safari configured to open all links in the current window, sometimes it'll behave and sometimes it won't. The end result is that I can wind up with multiple Safari windows open and I then have to try and navigate between them.

If this happens to you regularly, you'll understand how frustrating it can be. And prior to stumbling onto a handy feature to help wrangle those windows, I was doing a lot of copying links, pasting those links into another window, and closing the extra Safari instance. That process is not remotely efficient -- and I'm not a fan of inefficiency.

Fortunately, there's a built-in feature that makes it very easy to merge every Safari window you have open. The one caveat to be aware of is that the feature merges every single open Safari window. That means if you need to have two different windows open -- such as one for writing and one for research -- and you merge Safari windows, you'll wind up with a single window.

If you have multiple Safari windows open (each with multiple tabs), you can always merge the windows, and then drag the tab you need to stand alone out of the lone window. There are always workarounds.

What you'll need: The only thing you'll need for this process is an updated version of the Apple Safari browser on your desktop. I'll demonstrate this on version 16.5.2. This feature has been around for quite some time, so you won't have to have that exact version to merge your windows.

Safari 4.0.1 was released for Mac on June 17, 2009, and fixed Faces bugs in iPhoto '09.[47] Safari 4 in Mac OS X v10.6 "Snow Leopard" has built-in 64-bit support, which makes JavaScript load up to 50% faster. It also has native crash resistances that would maintain it intact if a plugin like Flash player crashes, though other tabs or windows would not be affected.[48][49] Safari 4.0.4, the final version which was released on November 11, 2009, for both Mac and Windows, which further improved the JavaScript performances.[50]

The key to doing this is to treat all windows as tabs, which can be done either by showing the tab bar at all times (press Shift-Command-T), or by creating a new tab in a window that has none (press Command-T).

Most web browsers include a feature to block pop-up windows. While this may eliminate unwanted or bothersome pop-up windows, the feature sometimes can impede the functionality of legitimate or useful websites.

Some popular Penn-affiliated websites requiring pop-ups include U@Penn and the Penn Online Directory.

Follow the instructions below to configure your web browser to allow pop-up windows for your selected websites.

Note: If you have installed third party applications to block pop-ups (examples include the Google, MSN, and Yahoo! toolbars), be sure to consult the vendor documentation to allow pop-up windows for desired websites.

When a website attempts to launch a new pop-up window, you may see dialog boxes alerting you of pop-up windows that have been blocked. Follow the instructions below to allow pop-up windows on a per-website basis.

Safari has multi-window support. This allows me to put two Safari windows side-by-side on the iPad. Being able to see two browser windows at once greatly helps when researching online. It also helps segregate my browsing. I can group tabs together in specific windows, instead of having all of my tabs in one large window.

To close all Mac browser windows with a keyboard shortcut, hold down the option and command keys (the latter is known to some as the Apple key) and then press W. This shortcut should work on most browsers, like Safari and Google Chrome.

If you block pop-ups on a website, but you continue to see pop-ups on the website, you might have unwanted software on your Mac. To learn more, see the Apple Support article About pop-up ads and windows in Safari.

I am a senior and want to install safari and an alternative email and have not been able to do either. I have a very strong feeling I have been hacked. I should not have all these problems please help

This is a great approach because it allows you to block all general pop-up windows in Safari still, while allowing them on specific websites that you know require the use of pop-ups to function properly.

Note that sometimes sites will launch pop-ups as opening new windows but Safari opens them as new tabs instead of pop-ups or new windows, depending on how they are initiated from the site itself, and how Safari is configured.

I am having a question about how to overrule the likely inherrited font size for iOS / Safari in a widget. The reason is that it seems that the font size i have put into the widget and showing nicely in windows browser is showing way more bold in the iOS / Safari world:
