Greetings Neighbors ...

So much going on ... I'm doing my best to keep up! Here goes ...

Public Safety
Let's get this hard stuff out of the way ... Compstat Report 11/10 - 11/23/25
  • 11/11/25 - Larceny from Vehicle at 78 Olive Street at 7:26am
  • 11/22/25 - Larceny from Vehicle at 541 Chapel Street at 8:51am
  • Also I received a report from neighbors on Chapel Street who made this report to the police (but it was not reported in the latest Compstat Report): On 11/21/25 at around 10:30pm a vehicle traveling east on Chapel Street rear-ended 5 parked cars in front of 556 Chapel Street. The driver was reportedly seen stumbling around in the road, trying to start his car and trying to drive off. Neighbors made a report with 911. This is an area of Chapel Street where multiple accidents have occurred. Hopefully when our traffic calming efforts are installed in early spring (so I am told), traffic will be slower on Chapel Street.

State Street Construction TidBits & Wooster Square Traffic Congestion
We have all experienced the frustration of the traffic congestion since the construction on State Street began a few months ago. Below are links to two articles from the New Haven Independent that describe the work that is going on - and will be for many months to come. Alternate routes might include taking I-91 at Hamilton Street to Trumbull or State Street to avoid the congestion at Olive and Grand and State; or to hop over to Water Street and onto Union Avenue by the police station to Columbus to Church Street South to get to downtown to avoid the Chapel Street delays; or go over to East Street and follow it north towards upper State Street to get to East Rock pretty quickly - at least these routes have worked for me, sometimes!
