Greetings Neighbors,

Here are a few updates as spring weather greets us!

Public Safety Updates

There were two public safety issues reported in the recent Compstat Report dated February 16-March1, 2026.

  • 2.28.26 - 277 Greene Street, Motor vehicle theft at 3:43pm

Survey to Provide Feedback about the Compost Drop Off Pilot Program

Rose Richi, the city’s Recycling Educator at the NH Office of Climate & Sustainability (203-946-5754) who oversees the compost drop-off pilot program has asked that this survey be distributed to help make decisions on the future of the compost pilot.  There is a compost drop off site on Chapel Street near Conte West Hills Magnet School. If you've used the drop off site, or have ideas, the City wants to hear from you. Below, you will find a link to a short survey that will help provide a better understanding of the program’s successes, challenges, and general usage.  This should take less than 3 minutes for you to complete.  You can also refer to the PDF poster attached to this email.

Volunteer at the Cherry Blossom Festival on Sunday April 19 🌸
Wooster Square's 52nd Cherry Blossom Festival takes place this year on Sunday April 19 from 12noon to 4:30pm and features once again a ‘picnic like’ environment with live music and food trucks. This is an annual community celebration to honor the important historical significance that our cherry blossom trees bring as a part of the New Haven community. We anticipate over 8,000 people for this in-person event in New Haven’s historic Wooster Square Park. VOLUNTEERS are needed all day or in shifts from 10am-12noon to help with set-up; 12-3pm or 3-4:30pm to pass out programs; welcome and guide visitors; and assist with stage management, the Children's Zone and miscellaneous tasks; and 4:30-5:30pm to assist with clean-up at the end of the day. Please contact me, Sarah Greenblatt at wooster...@gmail.com if you are able to volunteer at the Festival this year.

Enjoy this lovely weather today,

Sarah
