Happy Mid-August Everyone,

I don't have any official public safety reports as bi-weekly Compstat meetings have not been held this summer. But I'm still trying to get access to official reports of what's been happening in our Wooster Square neighborhood. I'm meeting with Lt. Guliuzza next week so hopefully I'll have some updates for my next email. Please feel free to let me know of public safety concerns you may have in your part of our great neighborhood.

Meanwhile, here are a few updates ...

Scammers are back at it - IGNORE threatening text messages from CT DMV
Scammers on behalf of the CT Department of Motor Vehicles are again sending threatening text messages to people. Ignore and delete the messages. They are a scam. Connecticut DMV will NEVER contact you by text message.Visit the agency’s official website if you need DMV information at https://ct.gov/dmv

Adopt-a-Hydrant
Here's an interesting community-building idea:

Social Justice Book Group Forming at St PJs

St. Paul & St James Church at 57 Olive Street is launching a new social-justice book club called "Margins and Movements". Although it's hosted at the church, most of the monthly titles will be broadly secular, in an effort to make this appealing and open to all neighbors. The first monthly discussion will be on August 26 at 7pm at St. PJ's, for the book "On Tyranny" by Timothy Snyder, followed by Robin Wall Kimmerer's "The Serviceberry" on Sept. 30. Light refreshments will be provided. See the attached flyer for the full fall menu.

Stay cool and enjoy today's more pleasant summer weather,

Sarah
