Greetings Neighbors -

Here are a few community updates on this bright and sunny November afternoon!

Public Safety

There were three burglaries/break-ins over the past two weeks in Wooster Square, the first two were reported through Compstat and the third via a former neighbor who works at Albertus Mangus, whose public safety department is working with the NHPD.

Court Street Bike Burglary: A bike from the Albertus Magnus College bike share went missing around 3pm on November 12 around Court Street. It is a black and grey Gary Fisher bike with Albertus stickers on it (photo attached). If you have seen this bike, please contact public...@albertus.edu.

Free Little Library Joins Wooster Square

Take a walk to 86 Chestnut Street (between Chapel and Wooster Streets) to find a new addition to our neighborhood! You can give a book and take a book at the newest Free Little Library sponsored by Gina Lockery.

Downtown Wooster Square Community Management Team Meeting - 11/19/24 6pm

The DWSCMT will meet on Tuesday November 19th at 6:00 pm, hybrid at the Ives Main Library. The meeting is currently booked to meet in the first floor Phillip Marrett Room but may move to the Ives Board Room in the basement. If the latter, an email may be sent, but feel free to ask the person working the circulation desk as well.

New Haven Preservation Trust 2024 Annual Awards - Wednesday, December 4, 5:30 p.m.

City Hall, Mezzanine Level - 165 Church Street, New Haven

Please join the New Haven Preservation Trust 2024 Awards, an annual recognition of exceptional architecture in our diverse and sophisticated city.

This year they honor five structures for their notable character, history, and preservation. The Trust will celebrate the active reuse of two formerly abandoned schools — Edwards Street School (Landmark Award) and St. Michael’s School (Merit Award), along with House Awards for the restoration of two 1955 “California Modern” residences and special recognition for a renovated 1869 house at 1389 Chapel Street. We also honor all the individuals and companies involved in the stewardship of these properties. For over 60 year, the Trust has given Landmark, Merit and House awards to over 250 structures, a remarkable tradition that demonstrates the City's rich architectural heritage. This event is free and open to the public. Advance registration is appreciated, but not required. Everyone is welcome. Please register below,
