I'm forwarding an email from the Yale School of the Environment's Urban Resources Initiative with a couple of interesting lectures, the All Hands Survey you can complete about New Haven's Parks. AND there is an exciting opportunity to enter a contest to 💚 Nominate Your Favorite Tree! 💚 in the  Dear Tree, With Love Campaign. 💚 Information is below! 

You can do this yourself or support your children to write 📝 Why do you love your tree? What makes it special to you or your community? or 🗣️Share your story in any creative way you like. or ️ Write a poem. or  💌 Write a letter to your tree. or  📸 Take a photo. or 🎨 Create artwork. or 📽️ Make a video! 


How to submit: 💚 Post your entry on Instagram using #NHVTreeLove, or Email your materials to Newhav...@gmail.com


The Deadline: April 1, 2026. Crowd sourced voting April 1 - April 10. Help choose the top 12 photo submissions of New Haven trees to be featured in a 2027 Trees of New Haven Calendar. 


Winners for the calendar contest will be asked to verify the tree’s New Haven address and then announced 🌸 April 19th at the Cherry Blossom Festival 🌸Everyone who participates will get a free calendar. The 12 winners will be honored with a T-Shirt at Rock-to-Rock on April 25. 


The Dear Tree, With Love is a joint campaign between New Haven Parks and URI to celebrate trees and the ways they bring communities together.

If you haven't already done so, now is the time to take part in the All Hands for New Haven Parks surveys. The surveys for the Strategic Plan will close on March 8th.

Dear Tree, With Love

We invite you to take a photo of your favorite tree and share with us what makes it so special through a poem, art, or love letter to your tree. Share with us via Instagram or email today! We are choosing twelve winners to be featured in a Trees of New Haven calendar. All participants will receive the calendar for free. Winners will receive the calendar and a tee shirt.
