52nd Annual Cherry Blossom Festival - Sunday April 6th 🌸
The Historic Wooster Square Association’s annual Festival to celebrate our beautiful cherry trees surrounding Wooster Square Park will take place on Sunday afternoon April 6 from 12noon to 4:30pm in the Park! Diverse food trucks will line Academy Street and Greene Street along the north side of the Park. Bring your chairs or blankets to enjoy a picnic in the Park, listen to three exciting local bands, bring your family to the Children’s Zone, visit the Italian Heritage Zone, discover New Haven’s nonprofit arts and culture organizations in the Engagement Zone, and meet Festival Sponsors!
Please note that various streets around the Park will be closed on April 6th - look for “No Parking” signs that weekend, and remember to move your cars so they won’t be towed the morning of the Festival.
Wanted: New Tree Watering Team In the next few months a new "forest" type tree will be planted in Wooster Square Park as well as new cherry trees to replace those that will be removed as they near their 40 year lifespan. Also a new fountain with capacity for hose hook-up will be placed in Wooster Square Park. It is a tradition for neighbors to be part of a "tree watering team" to make sure the new trees are regularly watered for the first three years. Please let me know if you would be interested in sharing this rewarding task with others in our neighborhood, and I can connect you with the right folks!
Enjoy this cool early spring day! 🌺 🌸🌺
