Movies in the Plaza is back, bringing you free Wednesday night movie screenings May through October in downtown New Haven’s beloved Pitkin Plaza! Grab your lawn chairs, picnic blankets, and some takeout from a local spot, and spend an evening under the stars enjoying blockbusters, nostalgic blasts from the past, cult favorites, family films for all ages, and more.

Any weather updates will be posted on the website and the Facebook event page by 3PM the day of the event. For the safety of our guests and equipment, if the forecast shows any indication of poor weather, including severe winds, the event will not be held that evening. We will try our best to reschedule every postponed movie to another night.
Parents and guardians are encouraged to research movie themes prior to attending these events with children under the age of 18. Not all movies are suitable for all ages.

Check out NXTHVN's 456 Prestissimo, a pop-up exhibition of Studio Fellow alumni and current residents: Anindita Dutta (cohort 04), Fidelis Joseph (cohort 05), and Napoles Marty (cohort 06). Titled after an extremely fast tempo, this presentation of artworks looks at the swift movement of the body through abstraction.

Get ready for a live, nerve-wracking pottery demonstration with The New Haven Pottery Studio! They will bring their pottery wheel out of the workshop and to the street to exhibit the full process of wheel throwing in action. Stop by to learn more about the craft, ask questions, sign up for a class, or browse a selection of finished handmade pieces available for purchase.

In 2020, our Straight Up Art mural program funded multiple murals including Michael DeAngelo’s Color Balance featured for years behind the Night Market Stage. Visit the stage area on the corner of Crown & Orange Streets during the Night Market as he works live, reworking his 2020 work into something fresh for the neighborhood!

Salsa in Ninth Square!
First event: Thursday, May 28th

the Orange Street Promenade (49-71 Orange Street)
Salsa in the Ninth Square returns Thursday, May 28 at 6PM!
From 6-6:45PM the Promenade will host beginner salsa lessons before you dance the night away from 6:45-8:30PM! Salsa nights will be twice a month through August!

New this summer - Sunday Markets on the New Haven Green! We are currently looking for vendors in the categories below.

- Groups wanting to run craft/making/activity demos (Example: seedling planting, knitting, etc.)
We DO NOT need food trucks or carts, baked goods, produce, packaged teas, prepared hot food vendors, or retail products.
