Greetings on the lovely spring day!
Here are a few updates ...
Public Safety
There were two public safety updates related to Wooster Square at last week's Compstat Meeting - on 4/8/25 at 83 Water Street at 8:08am there was a motor vehicle theft and on 4/12/25 at 98 Olive Street at 1:03 am there was a motor vehicle theft as well. Please remember to lock your car doors and keep valuables out of sight.
Also, please ask that deliveries be made to out of sight places on your porches whenever possible. Packages recently have reportedly repeatedly been taken from St. John Street porches.
Cherry Tree Removal, Replacement & Watering
Because Cherry Blossom trees have a lifetime of approximately 40 years, on May 3, the Parks Department in partnership with the Urban Resource Initiative with support from the Historic Wooster Square Association (HWSA) and the Wooster Square Conservancy will remove 5 old cherry trees and ground their stumps. Six (6) new trees will be planted in their place on the perimeter of the Park. In addition, a red maple tree will be planted within the Park by the Garden Club honoring Charlie Negaro, owner of Atticus, who has long been a supporter of Wooster Square Park. The HWSA is organizing a new tree watering volunteer team - please let me know if you are interested in joining neighbors to make this happen!
That's about it this week. Enjoy the beautiful weather! 🌞🌸🌞
