Greetings Neighbors on the day after the beautiful snowstorm! Enjoy it while the snow stays clean! But most of all, stay safe!
Here are a few updates on this lazy Saturday!

Public Safety
The Compstat Report from 12/8-21/25 indicated that on December 18 there was a Burglary - Breaking & Entering at 337 Saint John Street at 5:54pm. Otherwise, it was quiet in Wooster Square during that two-week period.

Trash and Christmas Tree Pick-up
There will be no Refuse/Recycling Collection on Thursday, January 1, 2026. Refuse/Recycling normally collected on Thursday will be collected on Friday, and normal Friday collections will occur on Saturday.

In the coming weeks, Christmas Trees will be picked up the same day as your trash and recycling. Trees MUST be bare -NO TINSEL/ORNAMENTS/PLASTIC BAGS, ETC- and left at the curb. Discarded trees will be picked up until January 30th. After that date, you will need to bring your tree to the transfer station for disposal.

Snowstorm Etiquette
As our streets are so narrow, it is important to follow no parking bans when snow alerts are issued so that snowplows can get through to effectively clear and clean our streets. Parking alternatives are available during days/hours of parking bans at Conte West Hills Magnet School - 511 Chapel Street for free; and for $3 a day at the Granite St Garage at 690 State Street (between Audubon and Trumbull Streets); at the 270 State Street Parking lot; and the Temple Street Garage at 1 Temple Street. These are useful places to move your cars - and short walks to get there too!

When there are residential parking bans, it means:
❄️ There is NO PARKING ON ODD SIDES OF THE STREETS IN WOOSTER SQUARE
❄️ There is NO PARKING WITHIN 25 FEET OF CORNERS OR FIRE HYDRANTS
❄️ There is NO PARKING ON ALL SNOW EMERGENCY ROUTES (all of Grand Avenue in Wooster Square) and DOWNTOWN until parking bans are lifted
❄️ City property owners are responsible for shoveling sidewalks that border their property (and as a courtesy, corners so neighbors can cross the streets)
❄️ Please do not throw or blow snow in the streets when clearing sidewalks
❄️ To avoid fines, sidewalks should be shoveled at least 42 inches wide and within 24 hours after the storm ends

Stay warm and safe - ❄️⛄❄️ - and to a healthy and happy 2026 🥳🪅🥳
