Greetings neighbors!

While it is chilly today, the sun is bright strong 🌞  Here are a few neighborhood updates after the Compstat Meeting today.

Public Safety. There has been an increase of catalytic converter thefts or near thefts throughout Wooster Square over the past few weeks. Lt. Borer has increased an extra presence in our neighborhood during the evening hours when these events seem to take place. We are hoping for a deterrence as a result. Additionally, there were 4 larcenies from vehicles in Wooster Square over the past two weeks - 490 Chapel from parking lot/garage on 4/18 at 7am; Franklin/Wooster Street on 4/18 at 1:03 am; 125 Olive Street from a parking lot/garage on 4/22 at 10:51am; and 100 Lyon Street from a residence on 4/22 at 3:30pm.

The New Haven Police also made a gun arrest in our neighborhood on 4/11 at about 11:54 PM. This is the content of the press release: "New Haven Police received a call regarding a burglary in process on Wooster Street, between Warren Street and DePalma Court.  Responding officers found a man hiding behind garbage cans in an alley who began to flee.  After a short foot chase, officers were able to apprehend the suspect, 29-year-old Stanley Rudolph of New Haven.  The officers located a loaded .45 caliber handgun next to the garbage cans where they first encountered Rudolph. Stanley Rudolph was arrested and charged with the following: Criminal Possession of a Firearm; Trespass in the Third Degree; and Interfering with Police".  Thank you to our vigilant neighbor who made the call.

Public Fun. Thank you to all our neighbors who supported the 2022 Cherry Blossom Celebration in Wooster Square Park on Sunday afternoon - from moving cars on Academy Street to sharing our park with so many who came from so far to enjoy the local bands and wide variety of food trucks!  It was a wonderful afternoon - here's a link the New Haven Independent article about the day.

Stay safe and well everyone as we head into a warmer week-end! 🌞🌷🌻🌞
