Heading into the weekend, here are a couple of updates.
Cherry Blossom Festival - Weather Update
The Historic Wooster Square Association and its Cherry Blossom Festival Committee shared today that since the latest forecast shows no unsafe conditions, as of now the Cherry Blossom Festival is happening this Sunday rain or shine. 🌸 Forecasts shift constantly, and as we all remember from last year, predictions don’t always match the day itself. The focus this year is to move forward confidently and enjoy the day together in the park. The Cherry Blossom Festival Committee, co-chaired by Cheryl Szczarba and Jim Kenny, looks forward to welcoming everyone to the park on Sunday afternoon from 12:00 to 4:30 p.m. to celebrate the blossoms' pink and white peak! They will also be celebrating the Friends of Wooster Square Awards around 3 p.m. with the 2025 award going to Keith Lorch and the 2026 award going to Bonnie Rosenberg. Remember too that there will be NO PARKING on Academy Street, parts of Greene Street, Hughes Place and Wooster Place (see the attached flyer for details) so that food trucks can join the Festival. And of course, remember to Respect our Trees as you enjoy the blossoms throughout the park.
Public Safety Update
There were three public safety issues in Wooster Square between March 30 and April 12, 2026. On 4.3.26 - there was a Burglary/Breaking & Entering at 44 Olive Street at 1:10pm. On 4.11.26 - there was a Larceny from a Vehicle at 37 William Street at 11:44 am. And on 4.9.26 - there was a Motor Vehicle Theft at 1 Lyon Street at 7:50am. This is the season when car thefts pick up - please remember to lock your car doors and move valuables away from sight.
Downtown Wooster Square Community Management Team Meeting - Tuesday, April 21 at 6pm at City Hall, Rm 2
The second meeting of the reformed DWSCMT is next Tuesday evening at 6pm - a Zoom link will be sent out but participating in person is always better for meeting neighbors and getting involved. The meeting takes place at City Hall on the second floor in Room 2. Get there early to get a seat. To join the mailing list, use this link email list
That's it for now. Enjoy this warm weather and the cherry blossoms while they last 🌸🌸🌸
