Dear Neighbors,

Please see the email below regarding the re-launch of the Downtown Wooster Square Community Management Team - a unique monthly opportunity for neighbors in Police District 1 to come together to learn about public safety and community updates as well as to share neighborhood happenings and concerns with City leaders. Your voice matters!

As background, each of 10 New Haven Police Districts has a Community Management Team that is responsive to the unique cultures of each community. Our District 1 has been reorganizing itself for a while now. With support of three new Alders from Wards 1, 7 and 8 - Rhea McTiernan Huge has stepped up to lead this process.

We hope to see you at this important and exciting reorganizing meeting. Come meet her and learn how you can get involved in moving this collaborative effort forward.

With appreciation & anticipation,

Sarah

Dear Neighbors,

I am so excited to share that the Downtown/Wooster Square Community Management Team (DWSCMT) is starting up again! Please join us!

Re-launch of DWSCMT on Tuesday, 3/24 at 6pm - JOIN US!
Our first meeting will be on Tuesday, March 24th, at 6pm at City Hall!
There will also be an option to join over Zoom, but we really hope you’ll come in person. And we’ll have food and drinks to share!

To give a bit of context to the DWSCMT, its purpose isto create a partnership between the community and city agencies so that together they may identify issues of concern, set priorities, develop solutions and improve the quality of life within the boundaries of the Downtown/Wooster Square Community Management Team district. It is strictly a non-partisan organization.

As we begin to get meetings up and running again, I will be serving as the DWSCMT Chair, so let me introduce myself. My name is Rhea McTiernan Huge, and I grew up in Wooster Square, though I currently live in Ward 1 as a Yale junior. I’m studying philosophy and really enjoy singing and printmaking. I’m very excited to serve as DWSCMT Chair as we bring this much-needed community group back together!

Especially in times of great political upheaval and change, like we are experiencing, local civic engagement becomes all the more crucial. I hope to see you at this meeting and those to follow!

Planned Agenda + Time to Mingle with Food and Drink
During the first meeting, we will spend the first 30 minutes hearing updates and introductions from the Police Department, the Alders, and the Livable City Initiative, as well as a few other local organizations. Then, we will have 30 minutes to mingle, meet one another, and converse about what we want this space to be. We’ll enjoy some food and drinks together, too.

Please reach out to me with any questions, and I will send more information closer to the date.

Hope to see you there,
Rhea McTiernan Huge
