Greetings,

PUBLIC SAFETY
Here are several public safety updates from the recent Compstat Report of April 27 - May 10, 2026
  • 4.28.26 - 23 Brown Street @ 10:13 am - Larceny from a Vehicle
  • 5.3.25 - 57 Olive Street @ 12:58 am - Burglary - Breaking & Entering
  • 5.8.26 - 61 Chestnut Street @ 10:25 am - Larceny from a Vehicle
  • 5.9.26 - 592 Chapel Street @ 5:42 pm - Larceny from a Vehicle
It's that time of year when we need to remember to lock car doors and hide valuables from sight; and make sure household and business doors and windows are locked tight. It is still amazing to me that people walk up and down the street randomly trying car doors to see if they are open.

NEW POLICE CHIEF
Acting Chief David Zannelli was recently approved by the Board of Alders as our new Police Chief for the City of New Haven. You can read about it in this recent New Haven Independent article. Zannelli Confirmed As Police Chief - New Haven Independent. He is a strong supporter of effective community policing. I have worked for many years with now Chief Zanelli and look forward to a positive working relationship with him in his new role! Feel free to let me know if you have recommendations you'd like to share about making our Wooster Square streets safer! Hopefully, too, we can welcome the new Chief to Wooster Square for a visit in the coming months!

Stay safe and dry this week-end,

Sarah
