Today is the LAST DAY to submit your trash photos for the HWSA Wooster Square Weeklong Clean-Up Neighborhood Challenge with a chance to win a $50 gift card to a neighborhood restaurant of your choice! (See attached flyer with all the info!)
Please send your clean-up photos to pres...@historicwoostersquare.org! This is about more than trash bags - it’s about building a community culture of pride and responsibility. We’re calling on local businesses, residents, and friends of Wooster Square to join this beautification movement. Thanks in advance!
ALSO TODAY MAY 27at 5:30pm JOIN the Celebration of the listing of the Long Wharf Pier on the National Register of Historic Places. Learn about its history and then celebrate with gelato on the pier at 6:30pm! Street parking is limited - walk, ride your bike or drive over early to park at IKEA! The celebration is FREE!
REMINDER - THURSDAY May 29, 2025 - Historic Districts 101 at Conte West Hills School - the Historic Wooster Square Association is pleased to partner with the New Haven City Plan Department to sponsor an educational 101 session on Historic Districts, designed for Wooster Square, New Haven’s first Historic District established in 1970! Please join in person when a light dinner will be provided. Materials from the meeting and the presentation will be posted to the Historic District Commission website at tinyurl.com/HDCwebsite. The workshop will take place at Conte West Hills Magnet School cafeteria on May 29th at 6pm. Those interested in joining may RSVP here. This workshop will cover topics like: What is a Local Historic District? What exterior changes to your property require approval from the Historic District Commission and how to apply. Resources available to Historic District residents including tax credits and technical assistance. There will also be a Q&A session with local historians and City of New Haven planning staff.
