Greetings on this Holiday Week!
Here are a few updates of note ... hoping you all stay safe and can enjoy the July 4th holiday! 🇺🇲
Public Safety
The Compstat Report of June10-23, 2024 shows there were three incidents in Wooster Square during this two-week period. There were two larcenies from vehicles - 190 Wooster Street on 6/11 at 7:07am and 630 Chapel Street at 10:22am; and a robbery with a firearm at 595 Chapel Street on 6/21 at 7:18am. This last incident involved a robbery at our beloved Kaiyden's Coffee Shop. No one was physically injured, but the robbery was quite traumatic for the barista and customer in the shop at the time.
Thursday, July 4 - Independence Day - from the Daily Nutmeg
As is customary, New Haven’s annual fireworks display, starting at 9 p.m. above East Rock Park, lays claim to the holiday itself. In the hours before, revelers are likely to gather at the official viewing area on Wilbur Cross High School’s athletic fields, where food trucks are set to offer hot dogs, “Halal bowls,” “fried American fare,” ice cream, fried dough and more. (Note: It appears that “only blankets”—not, say, beach chairs—“will be allowed on the new turf” at Wilbur Cross, though football stands and grassy areas should be available.)
