to Woomera on the Web
Hi, my name is Wayne Sherwell and I lived in Woomera from 1955 to 1964
and as they were my 'formative' years
I consider Woomera to be my home town. I think most Woomerites would
agree that if there ever was a eutopia in this country, then Woomera
was certainly it. I have been back many times, and attended most
reunions at the village and each time it seems that a little more is
missing (including the house I lived in at 5 Boori St.) Some of my
classmates names that some of you may recall (including the local
Constabulary :) Spoggy Beck, Glenn Cook, Wayne Woodcock, Lou
Pryzabela, Narelle Stapleton, Sue Mole. A few of the teachers that I
can remember are first and foremost, Mrs Dot Rogers, John Thompson,
Gus Wedding, Miss Guy, Mrs MacDonald and of course a teacher that none
of us will forget, Mrs O'Neil...oh yeah and Mr Jones (remember the
sharp edge of a ruler on your shoulder?)They were great days weren't
they, certainly the best of my life.
