Hi, It was fantastic to come across this website, and to read all the
postings of a very special time in a very special village. My name was
Jenny Thomas (now Thompson) and I lived at 1 Currong Street, Woomera
from 1952-1959. My parents are Audrey Pomeroy (was Thomas) and Richard
Thomas. Dad was an electrician on the Rocket Range and worked on many of
the rockets including Blue Streak and Black Knight. He also played
football for all the years we were in Woomera. They also operated the
first taxi service in Woomera. I have 2 brothers Stephen and Phillip and
sister Lyndel. My friends included The Bunker family, The Price family,
The Large family, and my Aunt and Uncle Yvonne and Clarrie Luxton and
their daughters Christine and Cynthia. Like so many I have extremely
fond memories of my childhood and the very relaxed lifestyle we enjoyed.
Highlights include the Fireworks and bonfires on 5th November (Guy Fox),
Saturday afternoon matinees, the Gibber Gabber, The Donga, and Sunday
School Picnics. It would be great to know if there are any people who
remember any of my family and/or friends.

H Jenny.  I also have fond memeories of Woomera.  My parents were Don and Marjorie Roach Salvation Army officers who shared duties with
a Padre Calder.  I know my Dad used to show movies out at Maralinga on a Saturday night. I cant remember the name of the street we lived
in but I did go to school there I was probably 8.  I remember the swimming pool so not sure what years that was.  I think my Mum played Netball as I have a photo I think was from there of the team/  The Price family rings a bell.  I remember a Penny who lived in our street.
Cheers Marilyn
