EDDIE KAERCHER , WHO RECORDED WITH RICK DANAKO OF THE BAND, TO HEADLINE RETROFEST 30, PAYING TRIBUTE TO THE WOODSTOCK FESTIVAL OF 1969 TO BENEFIT Twice Exceptional Children Advocate.
Organized by Allan Spielman of Retrofest in partnership with MELISSA SORNIK, Retrofest 30 will celebrate the 43th anniversary of the famous Woodstock Music and Arts Festival with a musical lineup to sample the original show in 1969. It will be held on Sunday, April 29, 2012 from 12:00pm – 6:00pm. Retrofest is an ongoing grassroots effort that recreates famous festivals of the late 60s through early 70s. All participants are donating their
time.
The event will run from 12:00 – 6:00pm. at the LVI Bistro located at 225 Birch Hill Rd in Locus Valley, NY. Headlined by Eddie Kaercher, it will feature many well-known Long Island bands such as Retro69 and the Bassenettes covering the music of John Sebastian, Tim Harden, Santana, Mountain, Janis Joplin, Sly and the Family Stone, Grateful Dead, CCR, The Who, Jefferson Airplane, Joe Cocker, Country Joe and the Fish, Ten Years After, CSNY, The Band, Johnny Winter, Paul Butterfield, and Jimi Hendrix. Every dollar collected at the door as well as other proceeds will benefit Twice Exceptional Children Advocate. Twice Exceptional Children’s Advocacy, Inc. a non-profit 501(c)3 charity organization was founded in 2003 by a group of parents seeking to identify, support and unite twice exceptional (2e) students and to educate and inform parents, educators and professional care providers with research-based information to
understand and provide appropriate interventions for the social, emotional and academic support of twice exceptional students.
Singer/Songwriter Ed Kaercher has performed with and opened for Richie Havens, Eric Andersen, Tom Paxton, Donovan, John Prine, Paul Butterfield, Jorma Kaukonen, and toured for a year with The Band. Ed toured with Rick Danko for 13 years and is the co-writer of “Change Is Good.” The 2009 release of two of Ed's songs on Hallvard T. Bjorgum & Friends “Peace Will Come,” (Ed’s vocals are backed up by Lisa Fisher and Blondie Chaplin on the tracks), and the release of his own CD, “The Norway Sessions,” featuring 9 original songs. mark Ed Kaercher's return to his musical roots as a writer and performer.
