Wan Peng,
There these photos in an album at flickr entitled "Malaya 1909",
https://www.flickr.com/photos/israphil/sets/72157653204178795/with/17922833342/
although they are only about Kuala Trengganu.
I cannot give you bigger image to each links, because of its privacy status.

But would you say those top 2 photos and the 5th, are those of Kampung China
adjacent to Pasar Payang back then in early 1900s?
[ Current map is here, https://www.google.com/maps/@5.33634,103.1358864,15z ]

In any case, have you any knowledge or background about the grandfather of the photo owner
Basil, now residing in Sweden, written therein as "Wandengah (Datuk Falak) Ben Salih Adilnor"?

The rear of those shop-houses at Kampung China had their outbuildings and jetties facing the
sea or muara, towards Pulau Duyung.  https://www.flickr.com/photos/israphil/17899491166/
This portion of land has been reclaimed as indicated on the map.

You can also see by the 2nd photo that a ship was berthed for goods to be carried to the market!

Perhaps you can enlighten me with some storylines for those photos....haha.

wow woerr

these are really old photos.  only one is recognisable ie that of istana maziah beside the bukit puteri (the last and 3rd last photos).  of course the boats are instantly recognisable too.  they are called kapal besar, used by terengganu merchants to do business with thailand.  they became extinct in the 60s

thanks
