Mariana,
Just a reminder for the photo of Philip Russell in front of the Old KL Railway Station,
during construction in 1910.  As high a resolution you could possibly get...hehe.

Here are some facts about that motorbike, where I had snapped some photos from the
Harley Davidson Book, when someone was selling it at Amcorp Mall Flea Market, a
while back, on June 13, 2015. I only managed a few shots, on those old images.

Harley Advertisement also appeared in the FMS Railway 1921 Booklet,
distributors were by Chow Kit & Co. Ltd.

From what I gather, Harley started with this one,

From the start the Harley Davidson was built strong to be reliable at a time when
contemporaries were based on bicycle parts and unable to cope the roads and
"
" tracks of the times. It was a policy that worked and production rose to 50 in 1906,
trebled in 1907, trebled again the next year and soon rose to thousands. By 1906
their colour and good muffler led to the nickname 'The Silent Gray Fellow'.
William A. Davidson joined by his two younger brothers in 1907, when leading link
forks appeared. Walter won a major endurance run in 1908, and in 1909 brought the
the engine that was to remain the Harley trademark down the years-the V-twin, As with
all to follow, its cylinders were 45 degrees which fitted neatly into the frame."

I believe, the above bike would be a similar to one that Philip Russell owned.
Produced between 1903 - 1910.

Note: The upper middle picture would be the motorbike in the Chow Kit's Advertisement in 1921.
It is a single cylinder engine.

Note: This is a "V" shaped Twin Cylinder engine. First produced between 1911 - 1920.

The above motorbike could be owned by someone in Pahang?...hehe...

Top Left Photo: Tank top for 1916, with petrol cap to the right, oil to the left, along
with the gear change lever in its gate. (3 speeds manual I presume..)

Top Right: It details the V-engine with its overhead fuel  inlet and side exhaust valves,
an arrangement the firm used for many years.

Interesting to note that the bottom picture, shows a 1919 to 1923 , "35 Sport model",
which carries an inline "opposed" flat twin engine.

(Note:: Flat engines were introduced by the Germans (Porsche) for the old air-cooled
Volkswagen vehicles! My kombi van uses "Flat Four", ie. Four Cylinders, two at each
opposing side with a centre camshaft.)
