KUALA LUMPUR: Various expressions of art, featuring
the creative works of some of those who have studied or
taught at the Malay College Kuala Kangsar (MCKK) will be
exhibited at the RA Fine Arts gallery from today to Jan 7.
The exhibition entitled "From Kuala Kangsar To ...." will be showcasing
paintings, photography, literature and writings by the alumni and former
teachers of the school.
The gallery's director, Raja Ahmad Aminullah, said the exhibition was to
showcase the pool of creative talent that is usually not associated with
MCKK alumni.
While people are aware of the contributions of the alumni in the fields of
academia, business, administration and other professions, little is heard
about their involvement in artistic and creative fields, he added.
Among the artworks featured are pieces by Yang di-Pertuan Besar of
Negri Sembilan Tuanku Jaafar Ibni Almarhum Tuanku Abdul Rahman,
Datuk Mahsun Taib, Hishamuddin Rais and others.
Pieces of interest include a collection of MCKK neckties from various periods
of the school's history and a kris sheath, which was carved by old boy
Datuk Mustapha Mahmud.
Various books written by the alumni and former teachers of MCKK will also
be on display. Among them are writings by national laureates
Ishak Muhammad (Pak Sako) and Muhammad Salleh.
The exhibition, at the gallery in Jalan Aman, is open six days a week from 10am to 6pm.
