Neighbors,
We are finally!! breaking ground on the rebuild of the basketball court at Woodmont Park. Work is scheduled to begin this coming Monday. You may have noticed that the porta potty has been moved to make way for the work. Attached is an aerial showing the dimensions of the new court and the ADA access. This is a bit different than our original proposal and, we think, much improved. There will be direct access to the court from the lower level of the park.
As pleased as we are to get started, costs have increased significantly and we need to raise additional funds to get to completion. We have over $40,000 in the bank, thanks to many generous donors, but need to find another $25,000. Our contractor is graciously donating the demolition and grading work and is willing to work with us as we raise funds for completion.
Friends of Woodmont Park will have an open house on Sunday, March 5, from 2 - 4:30 pm. This is a come and go event, so please come whether or not you are in a position to support financially, or even if you can only be there for a few minutes. This is an opportunity to meet neighbors - there are many new families - as well as provide support for this project. We will have finger foods and beverages for adults and kids. There will be a place to leave a check but no one will be strong-arming. The location is:
Home of James and Sharon Bristol
500 Oaklawn Avenue
Nashville TN 37215
Thanks to those of you who have already given generously. We appreciate those of you who have offered to help. Right now is the time to come through, we are moving forward on faith and belief that this neighborhood will give the final support for this wonderful improvement that will benefit families now and for generations to come. If you want to help but cannot attend on March 5th, you can send a check to my address above or use the donate link on the FOWP website below. Thank you and look forward to seeing many of you a week from Sunday. Please contact me or anyone else on the FOWP board with questions.
Friends of Woodmont Park is a 501(c)(3) tax-exempt charity. All donations are tax-deductible. Board members are Randall McCathren (President), James Bristol (Secretary, Treasurer) Roddy Story and Colleen McCanless.
