Hello Friends,

Just a few news items regarding Woodmont Park.

1)  An Easter Egg hunt is being planned by Colleen McCanless and Kathy Billings.  If you would like to be involved in planning, please contact them at mccanlesscolleen at gmail.com or kathykbillings at gmail.com.  We'll post more details here when we have them for you.

2)  Neighbor Alison Poland would like to start a mommy running group that starts at 6:15 a.m. MWF and meets at the Woodmont Park tennis courts to start.  "I know there are a lot of moms that live nearby that need this and it would be a great way for more neighbors to meet."  Please contact her at alison.poland at hotmail.com  or 301-518-1176 to discuss.

3)  The new playground is up and running!  Quite a few people have reported to me that attendance seems to be up significantly at the park with the new addition.  We are still working on selecting and locating the new trees that will surround the playground expansion.  If you would like to be a tree sponsor, there is still time to do this!

4)  Metro Parks has recently replenished the sand in the sand box.  The older climbing structure was found to have a couple cracks due to water/freezing damage, and these are being repaired.  Also, our very old water fountain has been removed and we will be receiving a new, state-of-the-art water fountain with dog bowl and water bottle filling capability.  Thanks to the Mayor's Office for the new water fountain, part of a city-wide grant!

5)  Metro Parks  was able to replace the tired old gate on the S. Wilson entrance with two red "bollards" (posts to you and me) which make it easier to get bikes and strollers through that entrance.  Thanks to Al Corlew and Tim Netsch at Metro Parks for making this happen for us!

6)  Metro Parks will resurface the tennis court sometime this year.  The cold weather has pushed this further back in the year as we wait our turn behind other projects.

7)  We will have a Friends of Woodmont Park planning meeting in March or early April to chart our course for the rest of the year.  We will hold this meeting on a Sunday afternoon, date TBD.  Please let me know if you would like to participate.

Thanks for your support and sharing so many fun times at our neighborhood park!  Please email me if you have any questions regarding any of the above.

Trish
