Hello Friends of Woodmont Park!
Just a reminder of our Summer Starter Party this Saturday, June 3, from 3:30 to 5 p.m. in the park. We will officially recognize and celebrate the completion of the beautiful new shade pavilion, brought to you by The Green Hills Rotary Club, Chad Polk of CDP Architecture, Metro Parks Department, and you, The Friends of Woodmont Park. Our District 24 Council Member Kathleen Murphy will be there, as will Council-at-Large Member and Rotarian Jim Shulman. Please come out and celebrate with us!
We are hosting Atlanta-based chalk artist Katie Bush. She will be installing a chalk mural which will reference so much of the good history of Woodmont Park, including celebrating Woodmont School which once stood there. Woodmont School students will not want to miss this! We will have a variety of crafts with Turnip Green Creative Re-Use, including the popular 615 Rocks. If you have particular rock you would like to paint, we encourage you to bring a few, for yourself and to share!
Representatives from the Metro Police West Precinct will be on hand for kids to check out their cool gear and police cars, and we will have a gourmet ices to purchase. If you want to make a picnic out of the afternoon, please do!
We are so looking forward to this milestone celebration, and hope to see you there. Everyone is invited, please feel free to share and bring your friends.
Parking may be a bit tight - please consider walking or biking to the park, or consider parking on the side streets around the park as Estes will likely be quite busy.
If we have bad weather, our party will move to the very next day, same time. We will post here of any change in that regard.
