Over the last few months, we at the AmeriCorps Urban Safety Project at Wayne State have conducted four bike watch rounds in the Midtown area. We are doing this to add additional eyes on the streets to help cut down on crime. Our efforts have been coupled with the inclusion of Wayne State Police, who lend us police radios to call in crimes in progress. We are very excited to announce that we are expanding our efforts to Woodbridge, and we are looking for volunteer help!
Our patrols are three hours long, with a break halfway through. Along with the bike patrol, we are also adding walking and car patrol to the efforts. We are looking to have four volunteers on bike (only if you have your own bike), one drive along with us in a car, and two to come along with myself on the walking patrol. If you are interested in joining us, please email me at
