Hi - Robyn Ochs and I attended an interesting info session from Ridwell.com.
They provided information on what and how to recycle hard-to-recycle plastic wraps, pill bottles, etc. Since grocery store plastic recycling is not monitored and is mixed, it is unlikely much if any of that is ever actually recycled.
Ridwell will provide bags to collect both stretchy soft stretchy plastic wraps, Amazon bags, etc. and crinkly wrappers, think resealable packaged food bags that can be mailed to Ridwell. They have contracts with companies that use the plastic to make products. Check out their website. Ridwell.com
I am currently bagging both types of plastic wrapping and a bag for pill bottles (too small to be processed with city recycling). When full I will mail them to Ridwell (postage paid) and get a replacement bag. They charge a reasonable fee for the bags and postage.
If enough people in the Boston area sign up,, they will be able to pick up the bags and have more recycling options.
